I will admit my problem with ‘getting quotes’ is the fact nobody except Octopus, will give a ‘ball park’ figure on-line. They asked the pertinent questions regarding my property, then gave me pricing depending how many panels I chose and what type of battery. Of course, as I said it was a ball park figure to be finalised if and when I had a conversation with them and sent the requested photos when they would give their advise given the details I gave them and my usage as to what I would actually need.
Everyone else I have seen on-line asks the same basic questions regarding my property and roof, but not how many panels or battery I was looking at or usage. But then will not give any idea of cost unless I provide not just my email address but my phone number. Email I have no issue with as I can always send them to junk if they get excessive, but I do not want to be pestered on the phone. At least with Octopus’s ball park quote, I could immediately see if it was in the region of what I could afford and so progress further if I wished. Yes they did contact me by email once I had filled out my interest, but had I not wanted any further contact I could just respond saying that and they would not bother me again.
Octopus are the only ones (as far as I could see) clearly showing they are offering 3 years interest free too and the APR if extending payments past three years, which could be a deal breaker for me.
I will be happy to post the final quote Octopus send me and be interested what any of you think. I was originally looking at either 10 or 12 panels (half each pitch of the roof to catch the sun throughout the day rising and falling as it faces east to west) and a Tesla power wall 3 battery.
