Mahlkönig X64 single dosing grinder

Hadn’t heard anything about a MK single dose grinder but saw this today:

Well priced, I like the design. Also ‘minimum 3g per second espresso grinding’ seems incredibly quick compared to most other home single dosers.

I’m actually quite tempted to give one of these a try. I’ve had two MK grinders, the most recent being an x54 and really liked it. The E65 is one of my favourite espresso grinders in terms of taste.

Not a fan of the bellows, would be interested to see how crucial they are in real-world usage as I think it looks quite neat with the little hopper on top instead.

HarveyMushman The only thing that affects the taste a grinder produces is the burrs……the rest is workflow so to me, it comes down to your belief in what the burrs will produce!

True. They make some very good burrs. The x54 ones are great for espresso.

I’ve never tried an all-purpose burr from them before. It’s also interesting that they’ve gone with a 64mm rather than the 54/65/80/98.

I wonder if they’re encouraging people to use their own burr choice.

HarveyMushman I might be wrong but I think they make, or used to make the burrs the Mythos fitted as OEM. I always rated them as being up there with the best. 74 or 75mm coated…….

On reading, it is all very vague. The general claim is the burrs are made by Eureka….perhaps my memory is playing up again

Mahlkonig are part of the Hemro group, which includes Ditting. Pretty sure they make their own burrs (a notable number of which have inspired aftermarket versions from the likes of SSP).

Nice little video overview.

I really want this grinder to be good because I love how neat it looks and the little hopper attachments. We know Mahlkönig can make a good burr set. Whether or not it excels at med-light filter and espresso like Mazzers I200 will be the key test for me.
