Morse Mania - trying to learn (CW) morse code

I recently stumbled across the Morse Mania app after arriving slightly early for the school pick up.

I have been trying to crack learning morse code ever since, not doing all that well yet but really trying to learn the letters by melody (for want of a better way of describing it) rather than learning dit dit dah etc.

Anyone else mastered it? I am quite tempted to do a license and pick up some gear. The idea of talking over radio is not for me for some reason but the idea of morse really appeals.

I think it was sparked after listening to a Radio 4 documentary where they sort of translated the morse code messages she sent whilst in peril into computerised voices. It was fascinating.

BlackCatCoffee Ha! I really like codes. My grandfather used to send me letters in morse code when I was a kid, and they still have a wonder to them.

I don’t think you need to get out more, but can’t advise on whether it’s safe to use!

The only letter I can’t parse is the last one of the fourth word, I feel it should be ‘x’ but I don’t think that fits.

BlackCatCoffee I must confess I didn’t, but only because I was summoned from my sleep by my two charming children at six in the morning. When I have had more coffee I may take another stab at things!
