A very sad loss, a man that helped anyone, he will be very missed, I would never have joined this forum if it wasn’t for him, I would never have got into Coffee if it wasn’t for him, a real legend and wow soo missed will he be. Please support each other.

Such a shocking, terrible news. I've almost met Dave in Milano in 2023, during the Host. Reading his messages in this forum and watching his videos gave me the feeling I knew him well and I had the feeling he will always help you and will have a solution for everything.

My thoughts are with his family. May he rest in peace, I know he will never be forgotten.

So unexpected and sad. Thanks to Dave I owned a Bianca, a Niche and a Evo leva. And never regeretted. I knew if anything ever would go wrong with the machines, Dave would be there to advise. He was an influencer of the good sort, no commercial strings attached and he had al the knowledge. I hope this forum will continue in Dave’s style.

This is very sad to read. Made an account to share my story.

I posted once on the other forum when I was looking for a new grinder. The Niche Zero was in early IndieGoGo days. Dave recommended it, but said “no need to take my word for it, come round and have a go”. I was shaken by his generosity. I took him up on it en route to a family meet up. He showed me his roasting set up and let me try the grinder, hours flew by. My family wondered what had happened to me (all they knew was I was meant to be meeting a man off a coffee forum!)

My thoughts are with his friends and family, rest in peace.

Sad news to hear. Its cause of Dave, I'm the proud owner of a Alex Duetto Mk 3, first proper machine i got after a gaggia classic. He helped me a lot also when I got my 1kg Amazon roaster. He rightly recognised i didn't really know what i was doing when I mentioned smoke coming out the back of the roaster after 9 mins (due to not opening the valve). He offered to give me a 3 hour training session on the roaster which I happily did. So yes, he was the coffee man for me! Will be missed!

I echo what others have said before me. I did not personally know Dave but the help I've received from him both directly and indirectly on this and the older forum has helped to shape my coffee journey. I always saw him as the core of this forum, endlessly answering questions, regardless of how basic or advanced they were. He'll be sorely missed in the coffee community and, from what I've read, sorely missed as a good person. RIP.

I was sorry to hear about Dave. I wanted to put a picture of my coffee setup with just the words ‘Thanks for everything Dave’

The wealth of knowledge and time he gave for us all on the forum will provide a lasting legacy.

I’d usually say I’d raise a glass but I’ll be raising a cup on this occasion. Thanks Dave, RIP.

You will be missed. Dave has been an inspiration and a guiding light in my personal - and I’m certain many, many others - coffee making journey.
His no-nonsense, ethical and patient manner of providing guidance is matchless. My Niche and Mara X are happy results of listening and watching his reviews. Fantastic work.
Totally gutted to hear of his passing. I will be raising a cup to him for years to come.

Hard to hear that a person who made such a contribution to our lives is no longer “on call”. I met Dave thru the first Duetto brought into the US, and he nursed me thru several early teething issues. Followed him thru several forums, home-barista, coffeetime to mention a couple. His writeups are a reference. He, as others have said, contributed so much to our coffee experience, and of such a touch of personal interaction….He will be missed…I still have the Duetto, and every day it reminds me of him

Oh my goodness, Ive not been on the forum for a while and am shocked at the news. Never met Dave but he shared so much information and had so much patience to help people out. He found a passion in life and reading peoples comments everyone has taken a bit of Dave to them. My thoughts to his family and friends and my thoughts to him as Im looking after my machine in the way he told me :(
