Lets kick off with some beautiful measuring equipment and it's even coffee related for some projects I'm doing. Micrometer (1 micron), depth gauge (1 micron) and calipers (10 micron). Ready to start getting all set up. Went with the Norton which I sourced from Argos for £23.00 in the end as Curry’s put the price up to £39.00 before I could order. I contacted Curry’s who just said that the prices change daily. So I ordered all the other bits from John Lewis. Curry’s loss.

Meldrew Curry’s price of £40 is a joke. You can get legit digital keys on ebay for around £17 and I see them for £12-£13 if you are willing to hunt around. Curry’s is so out of touch - you can buy any software online legitamately for a fraction of what they charge.

Meldrew Sorry for tardy reply. I do not really hold much faith in reviews as they are always paid. I used Bit deneder for 2 years and found it good but I always got annoyed at their pricing. On renewal they tried to snare you at a really over inflated price. SO this renewal I decided to give Intego a bash. It is only £18 or so from the link I posted. it sits in the background. Is not resource greedy and seems to do the basics quite well. I have never been a Norton fan but cannot justify why not!

dfk41 I know what you mean when it comes to the renewal and price. All I do with Norton is to cancel the subscription and buy cheap again at the renewal date. The issue is that I might have to remove Norton and reload onto the computer, iPads and phone again. It’s worth the time as Norton want £94 next year so no way Jose’.

I’ll make one recommendation of paid software which massively improves internet browsing experience - Adguard AdBlocker & privacy protection. https://adguard.com/en/welcome.html

It’s a system level application - not just a browser extension so works across all apps. I’ve used it for a few years now on my Macs and on my PC and it is brilliant. The best thing about it is it removes all ads from YouTube videos. The iOS Adguard app is not quite as good - due to the limitations of iOS it can’t block ads in apps - so you still get ads in the YT app. That makes it a waste of time for me on my phone but on computer it is brilliant.

You can purchase a lifetime (i.e. no annual subscription) licence for three devices for £33 plus VAT - they normally do Black Friday deals where it is a bit cheaper.

I asked them. They said iOS requires some manual configurations for system-wide blocking.

Reading these posts one after the other, I couldn’t help but think a manometer is s good analogy for cross platform (manufacurer) compatibility.

PortafilterProcrastinator It is which is why one manufacturer Orman, pretty much makes all the manometers for the different espresso machine manufacturers.

It’s surprising that the Manometer on the E61 was not done years ago….Minima was the first I think…(my idea)

New 3D printed clump crusher for the Solo. Frustratingly I ordered before trying the grinder with the Mazzer burrs I recently fitted and not sure it’s actually needed now. Up to the loft it goes for now.

LMSC That still doesn’t enable blocking of ads in the YouTube app on iOS which is my main use for Adguard. However the manual config of DNS filtering is simple enough - just follow the instructions. :-) And if you chose to use the iOS device as one of your three licensed devices there is no extra cost.

I’d be interested in how well these work, I like the idea of being able to heat some of my rooms differently (part of my house gets considerably more sun in the morning and doesn’t need heating, other side is cold). I wonder whether it would be worth the hassle for what is probably only one room I want to heat higher than the rest.
