What did postman bring today ?

The counter otherwise bare until my Decent arrives. My wife loves the temporary extra counter space. I miss my espresso, for the moment. đ˘
But my Niche is still there to keep me company.
ST30B Well I have tried them all now and was not impressed, they all seemed to be a little on the light side roasting. The Honduras 2 and the Nicaragua 11 seemed very bland and slightly woody, definitely not suitable as flat white for me/ wife.
The Brazil 26 was a slight improvement but does not stand up to milk quite bland. The India 25 better but still quite a light roast (relevant), not as fulfilling as other Indian roasts I have had, still quite light with milk.
I tried these with a clean grinder and varied between usual 1:2 pull , restretto and 1:2.5.
Others may find quite differently but I prefer richer, full bodied coffee with a rich voluptuous mouthfeel and these did not do it for me.

Elcarajillo Thanks for the update. I will give them a pass then. Plenty of roasters out there to try! Itâs so disheartening when you get a âmehâ coffee order. Itâs the hope that kills you but we take it on the chin and onto the next one!

Presumably this is related to Wogan Coffee. Thatâs what I am drinking at the moment. They used to be one of my go-to roasters back in the day, but as I deepen into the hobby and my taste buds improve, I find their offer a little bit âbox standardâ. Saying all of that, their prices are very competitive and, if you just want something standard, they do offer a great variety at very good prices. Contrary to ElCarajillo, I found the Brazil 26 good with milk - and so did my auntie and uncle who were around - but to my taste - not for me. I found that that coffee was better at longer pulls - I was doing 18g in, 45g out. Iâm now drinking a Kenyan, roasted lighter than the Brazilian, but I wouldnât say thatâs a light roasted coffee compared to other roasts which would charge 1.5x or 2x as much. The SCA score of this coffee is 87, but I know that doesnât mean much either.
Taste is subjective. I wouldnât just dismiss them outright. You never know. Just because someone doesnât like it, doesnât mean your opinion will be the same. I had plenty of good suggestions given to me before, and, after trying them out, I found that they were not for me. Equally, I have beans I really enjoy, and once brought some over to Dave. His feedback: âI think these are a roast defectâŚâ ;-)
So yeah, give it a go and then make up your own mind. You never know.
I do not understand the â light roast compared with others would charge 1.5 - 2 times as much ?
I did find the beans very dry and grinding quite quickly no matter how I adjusted the grinder (I do keep a list of settings for different beans + or - for variations).
To me they were quite insipid and with a woody taste.
As you said , best for members to try them for themselves.

Read as:
Doesnât explain the fact they are not that wonderful;
They donât charge ÂŁ44 per kilo like other roasters;
So in a way you get what you pay for. Saying that Iâve paid over the odds before just to be very disappointed;
They are âbox standardâ roasted beans. Not much to write home about.

My Picopresso from Nanopresso. It met and indeed exceeded my expectations. It initially seemed complicated to assemble and use, but it was simpler than I thought. I quickly learned how to use it. Itâs very well built. And with my first use, I poured as good (maybe even better) a shot of espresso that I did with my Lelit E. Iâm looking forward to travelling with it, starting with my daughterâs wedding on Vancouver Island this coming week. đ
I saw these on a website. I cannot remember the exact price but they were less than ÂŁ6 each. That included delivery and some really good packaging! Very nice to look at and use!

Decent De1pro v1.45 - Niche Duo - Niche Zero - Decent is the best machine ever made -
Ordered the Honduran / Motor Oil / Ethiopian special one.
I saw this roaster from Holland recommended recently. Had a look at their site and they are quite expensive but offer free shipping if you spend 60 Euros. SO, the one I fancied was this at 32 Euros for 200 gms:
