CYP1A2 Does that support what I thought then? That medium was a stretch?
I’m no expert but if these are classed as medium then I wouldn’t like to try them as a light roast!
To me they are well into the light territory and the Tonino seems to back this up although my extractions were not thin and watery.
I agree I would say rest for longer and to be fair to the roaster I don’t think there’s a fault with the roast other than individual interpretation of medium. It must be really difficult for them to be fair but I’m sure they would understand if you did contact them. At the end of the day they would want the customer to be happy and a kilo of each is a considerable amount . They may even offer some context on how they’ve come up with classifying them as medium?
I’m not an expert on grinders and don’t know much about the IZPRESSO range unfortunately but you shouldn’t have to upgrade your grinder to deal with an average priced and average quality bean surely? ( this is not a snub on the roaster by any means). Credit to you though if your grinding these fine enough for espresso💪
I don’t think you’ve mentioned what machine you’re using or if your doing a filter brew , I suspect they would be better suited to filter but this is just a hunch .
The decaf offering from them is very pleasant, it’s a washed also. I froze it straight away without resting and have just started using for short espresso shots. It’s nice, not overly developed but enough, has good flavours and a nice gloop to it. I appreciate decaf beans roasts quite differently to non decaf and can appear darker than they are but this ,for me , is more developed than the Peru roast which is described as medium yet this is described as light/medium.
