Adrianmsmith You don’t sound like you have a good reason, or motivation to invest in a brewed coffee regime.
If people want to explore brewed then the Switch is a handy, approachable option…you just steep like a french press, or just use the switch to hold hot water to preheat then use it like a regular V60, or anywhere in between…but there is no ‘fool proof’, ‘super consistent’ brew method, they all take the same care (dosing, grind setting, weight in/weight out). Brewers don’t really do anything, we have already decided by the time we’re adding water, what the outcome will be.
I like the Switch, I have 2 of them, so I’m not trying to steer you away from it, especially as it has been mentioned in connection with this exercise, but you can buy a Melitta Aromaboy & Kalita 101 papers for the same price, no kettle/timing/pouring needed.
I’m keen to try the coffee as close to Lee’s intention, as possible, but I’ll also be using my more regular methods and that’s what I’d suggest everyone does, so they can gauge against their day to day experience.
