dfk41 Where do the cowboys, with enamel mugs, plug in their double boiler espresso machines on the trail? :-)
For me, my best brews with moka pots all seem to end up about 1:4 (18g:70g), so just less than 3oz total. You are looking for significantly more than that, around 200g-210g brew water for an 18g dose. It doesn’t involve much doing, but still careful weighing and watching closely.
You used to have a Melitta Aromaboy, I’ve never tried to brew at that kind of ratio, but it would negate your bizarre ritual? This and a Hario Switch might work, but does the ‘cowboy’ aspect relate to the silt/body of the drink, or is it all about hats & boots? :-) Both these options use a filter paper, giving a relatively clean cup.
How about Aeropress, what you are describing is pretty much an Aeropress competition brew (since the fairly recent rule change - 150ml coffee out, 18g dose, max 5min brew time)? Still has a filter paper, but it’s a but leaky (especially with a fine metal filter), so not as clean as Aromaboy/Switch.
French press, 18g coffee 210g water?
I tend to think, considering your many previous forays into brewed coffee, if there was an answer, you might have stumbled on it by now?
