Cleaning coffee stains off machine

Hi all,

Apologies in advance if this is already covered anywhere. I’ve purchased a new machine on a whim and am now looking to sell my Sage Barista Express when my Niche arrives next month. However, it’s got some noticeable coffee splatter behind the group head. What would be the best product to get it looking all shiny again so it’s ready to sell on?

I’m sure whatever cleaner I buy will come in handy for the even shinier Minima that’s replacing it 😁

I just use a damp cloth on stainless steel, seems to do the job perfectly well

Dusk Agreed, a soft Microfibre with the label removed works well for me.

Alexvs - My experience is that, no matter what, warm water on a damp microfibre cloth is good enough to remove coffee stains.

Now and again I use 75% alcohol gel (I wish I could just get hold of 97% alcohol like in other countries, but it’s not something available here in the UK) and it works wonders, removing any grease marks or water marks. It’s great.

Same goes for glass cleaner, but some have perfume and other stuff in it which I’m not a fan of.

MediumRoastSteam What about isopropyl alcohol? It’s not a gel but you can absolutely get hold of it in the uk.

LMSC - errr. any old nonsense you use to sanitise your hands with. I bought some from Amazon a while back. It’s actually 70% :-)

I just use a wet jay cloth and, occasionally, a microfiber for polishing. A wet cloth is all you need.

Baldrick no idea. Put this way. I didn’t buy the alcohol to clean the machine - I just use it because it’s there and it’s used for other purposes. I have isopropyl alcohol to clean print heads, ink cartridges, contacts, etc. never used on a coffee machine’s exterior. Not sure if it’s wise either.

Is it ok to use those anti bacterial wipes you can get in Tesco/Lidl? I use them for everything and do the odd time on the Elizabeth, great for removing anything from most things but not sure about the long term? Seems ok! I checked and it doesn’t state alcohol as a content so ok there dutchy101 !!
