I’m tempted to offer you my Ceado E92, very little used, perhaps 50Kg through in total (perhaps not even that)…Cost me quite a lot though, so not a cheap grinder.

It is, and £500 would come nowhere near….A shame because it’s sat there doing nothing for almost 4 years now

The new including VAT and import duty would cost about £2K, I would imagine.

a couple of E92s were sold for no more than £550 in the past 1.5 years, on CFUK. These days, with the Niche, nothing ex-commercial second hand is selling for anything more than that, however good it might be.

Just to expand on my own comment above… the only difference is that you’ll struggle to find an E92 which only had 50kg put through. Most of them are ex-commercial which had a terrible life inside a shop, abused on a daily basis, potentially never cleaned, and who knows the condition of the burrs.

So yeah… maybe more than £550 for Dave’s one. 😊.

so looks like it’s very much depending on condition. Sorry for the confusion.

I can imagine, mine is owned by me from new….I started testing grinders shortly after I got it…so I didn’t put very much through…I think 50kg would be a top estimate. I wouldn’t sell it for less than £950, especially as you can’t get them any more and nothing that runs so slow. I have all the bits it came with, but I did modify it for single dosing, which really is just removal of a steel flap. You can’t run it with a hopper, the retention is enormous. I still have the original hopper which is massive as well…never used <lol>. In fact I am sure I did a review on it? I did, it’s for the E37s and E92, the E92 part starts about half way through. I actually purchased the E92 after I completed that review… I used it for about 18 months and they started testing other grinders and it has sat in my front room unused since then.

In the end with proper techniques, dose consistency was under 0.5g, so it retained very little when used right. I never bothered disconnecting the fan, I just used to turn it off when I was finished…which also helps the display last a long time.

When you compare the workflow differences between the E92 and the Niche, you will come to the conclusion that for the difference in taste, it is not worth it. If you do not single dose the E92, then the retention is astonishing. If you do single dose, you need to feed the beans into the grinder by hand 4 or 5 at a time, continually stopping and using the puffer. To grind 18 gm beans takes a long time. Then you have to press the puffer a couple of thousand times…..I think the fact that our forum super taster uses a Niche and has an E92 tells you all.
Nothing wrong with wanting one to try but if you want one to try you are going to have to sell it again when you have finished……

I suppose a niche would sell on regardless, just the last one i had used to get beans stuck under the disc thingy.

Its just an idea atm

I was going to suggest you buy a Niche as you can resell easily. Honestly don’t worry about beans getting stuck under the NFC disk. It may have happened to me once if that?

I’ve had it about 3 times, but they were larger beans, easily sorted

My experience is somewhat limited on grinders, but never had a stuck bean with my Niche in almost 18 months, if that helps

I never had this issue either. I had to buy and fit the disk myself as it wasn’t a thing when I bought the grinder, back in 2018.

With the addition of bellows the E92 is only slightly longer in work-flow than the Niche. I just drop in 20g of beans start the grinder, wait til the beans have ground through (about 4 seconds!), a few puffs of the bellows, a quick sweep up the spout and that’s it. Timer set to 15s which is enough to grind and puff. Easy! (Oh, and I use a Niche grind cup too..) I may upload a vid for poops and giggles.
