MediumRoastSteam
My default setting is preheat with the chaff collector in for about 4minutes, even in the cold it gets to 100C with temp probe B. Then 400gr P5 (100%) D (I understand that higher drum speed should get the beans a bit higher up to the elements, and might get a bit more of an even roast). Latest at 1.Crack I reduce to P3, if I’m late or think the crack is running away I go to P2, but will go up again if the exhaust temp A seems to stall (I still expect a small rise there until I drop). I then get the drum out quickly and cool externally. Usually I reach 1.Crack with 300gr from 9′30 to 11′, and drop within 1′30 to 2′. I’m aiming for a good developed medium roast, but with 14.5 to 15% loss it might be a touch lighter than others. I’m hoping to discover more of the origin flavours this way, but should probably experiment more with my aeropress or pour overs as well.
