@"RobertRo101"#p9667 I've been using the V3 for almost a year now…low flow works well. Especially good if you don't want to move the paddle..It was one of my favourite new things on Bianca. For the upgrade you would need a new LCC, some wiring and the additional solenoid with a slight plumbing change.

The Bianca Review is a version 1, so quite old now. I may well update it…essentially the machine is unchanged except for the addition of the new features. I may have a few extra features the production version doesn't have, and my solenoid is slightly different (they are sending me a replacement, if I get any problems with mine)… I was originally sent it to try it and see if there were any problems…which there were not…it wall worked very well. I don't think I have a manual, but I will download the production manual as my version a year ago has something else I won't mention, until I find out if it was in the production version. I suspect my software might not be exactly the same version, but again until you guys by one and if the software version is on the back of the LCC I won't know…plus mine could still have been a reflashed LCC. I have to be very careful when commenting on pre production stuff so early in the chain. Really like the version 3 though, as compared to the version 1, lots of features were new….and I do need to update my version 1 to a version 2.

This is why, despite my recent challenges, I really love the Bianca (and Lelit). I have been toying with updating to LCC 2. I may hang fire and update to LCC v3 though, with my new found boldness for tinkering with the machine 😉

The Low flow used in conjunction with PI seems to be a good combination. Dave, have you been using just the low flow or do you always use the PI with it ?

Really great feature. It basically mirrors the profile I use 99% of the time so it’s handy to be able to automate it. It’s also really awesome to see Lelit iterating on what is already a fantastic machine. It’s impressive how quickly the group head pressure changes when the low flow kicks in.

this is awesome. i'll get an upgrade kit when its available.

Its a good option, not sure id rip my machine apart for it, but its a good out the box incentive to buy the v3 over a competitor

there will hopefully be some other upgrades that the new LCC bring that are worthwhile.

Lemondixon I think what BB told you is about right. I had the same issue with my izzo. Ironically in the end it all came off and I preferred it that way. It amazes me that they put chrome around it at all. I believe the reason is to minimise scale but clearly it is a waste of time. Why don’t they just make them all stainless steel or just brass? At the end of the day scaling will always be down to user control rather than parts. I am no engineer but if it was down to me and say cost was the reason I would ship the machines with brass ones with the addition in the manual of a comprehensive guide as how to test/ keep or treat the water hardness in your area to a satisfactory level.

Lemondixon Unfortunately it doesn’t. It’s a brass mushroom valve (on the inside at least) with a chrome plate finish. I know this as on mine the chrome plating started to blister and come away after only 6-8 weeks from new

Does your answer presuppose that a V3 should come with a stainless steel mushroom? Or simply that as you also say they probably just changed their minds. Maybe they worked out it was cheaper to leave the original one in?

It has the low flow mode too (not aware of a “high flow” setting, unless I’ve missed something)

Checked the BB website listing and mine appears to have all the v3 features. Also searched for a replacement v3 mushroom valve in stainless steel and can’t see one anywhere other than for other manufacturers. I just checked my emails…I got the V3 Bianca about 1 year before it was launched and told the Mushroom was stainless steel By the main designer/owner at the time. It was one of the differences between it and the V2 Bianca.

It might have been that they changed their minds before the main product launch, but I can’t see why they would.

For what’s worth, here’s not a single mentioning of Bianca V3 and SS mushroom, not even on their website which would be some marketing gizmo at least.

So I bet it’s the latter.

Lemondixon I used hi flow to refer to normal flow. You definitely have a V3. Perhaps they changed their mind in the intervening year. I shall remove mine and check it when I get a spare moment

At the end of the day it is all a matter of preference and taste. If using just preinfusion works ok then that is fine. If preinfusion with low flow improves in your opinion the extraction that is also fine. I don’t think there is a hard and fast rule, to what is best as ultimately it’s what your taste buds prefer. Lelit introduced low flow to improve repeatability of shots so that if the formula is preferable for your coffee/ grind you can repeat it with more accuracy via the pid.

I used low flow in a few ways on mine.

Set machine to 9 bar approx on the paddle and then allow low and high flow phases to produce a profile, without having to move the paddle. It was a little like GSP (Gradual soft preinfusion) on the Crem 1 2B LFPP
Or do a complete low flow shot.

Question: Is there any justifiable reason (apart from supply/demand) that the Bianca in black/white powder coating is £600 more expensive than the box standard version of stainless steel?

Does it cost that much more to produce a powder coated version?

I checked on Bella Barista and 30 coffee. The price difference is equivalent.

yeah i think its crazy too - also from watching a vid online they have now buried the temp adjust inside the lcc - so you cant just adjust brew temp with one press

I’m not sure if there’s a special finish or anything required for food safe coatings but based on how much it costs to get motorbike parts powdered, £600 for a unit that size seems like a lot.

Personal preference but I still think the chrome version looks infinitely better.

Agree with this. Conversely I prefer the Minima in black and have one in black, but definitely think the stainless Bianca looks far better than the black version

dutchy101 it’s funny how people like different things, I think e61 stainless steel machines are ugly and genuinely the new painted Biancas are the only machines to make me consider an e61 machine.

I think the modern shape of the Minima helps the colours work. I agree it looks good.

The GS3 works as an E61 style in colours too as it’s a modern take.

But the Bianca is so otherwise classically styled, it feels like it belongs in stainless/chrome.

I get why they’ve probably done it though, presumably to appeal the to YouTubers and Instagrammers with their fancy neon lights and shallow depth of field shots. And they’re the ones who can afford the £600 premium 😂
