Hi folks Andy Bev here and after 40 years of being an electrician I have had a mid life crisis more in a bit 😉

My introduction to the world of coffee was in 2005 when I saw a Classic at Whittards and I still have it, I bought a poverty Gaggia grinder the wife hated it static sent grinds everywhere but the coffee was nice ( compared to instant) within a month the Gaggia grinder was gone. upgrade have happened and I now have in my kitchen a LNE Cuadra HX machine and a Quamar grinder but my go to kit is an areopress and a Timemore C2 hand grinder due to the fact there is no warm up required and I NEED coffee in the morning.

So where did my mid life crisis take me????

We my wife and I took the plunge and opened our own coffee shop in the Dordogne France called “Suis ton Coeur” (Follow your Heart) loving life. All my kit is Fracino and its all owned by me. Why Fracino despite the critics, they are simple, reliable and easy to maintain by myself, parts are easily available and it keeps my overheads down and despite what folk say tbh I get a rather good coffee out of it and plenty of complements.

Hi everyone Happy New Year etc

I realised on the stroke of 01.01.2022 why the coffee forum I had been occasionally visiting was becoming eerily quiet, and so in a flurry of personal renewal and New Year moment seizing I joined up here - so far 2022 is going well…

I have been making flaky espresso for about 20 years - this year I awoke from my slumbering and realised the whole world of coffee had packed up and moved on, and so my ageing Gaggia Classic got pimped up a bit, and I got a Niche (joy). My xmas presents included a knock box and a Decent Puck Rake - I think I am losing my mind, but at least the house smells of nice coffee.

I just read DaveC’s post about that other forum (not to mention names) I was using and how this one seems so much better! Coffee journey started with a French Press and is now at Bezzera Unica PID and Eureka Mignon Specialita stage… so about a 1000% or so increase in cost and time, but very happy I made the leap into this world of quality coffee. Although, that being said, I think I am very sensitive to caffeine so I’ve had to go decaf! haha

Hi everyone, been lurking around coffee forums, somehow got here and it seems like the right time to say hi. I’m from Israel actually, and while we have a coffee forum there, it’s, well, different :)

Bought into espresso hobby about a year ago with a Gaggia Classic Pro purchase. Me and my wife are now addicted for good (hope so). Lately been contemplating an upgrade to an H or DB, even considering a brave move towards a lever machine but am a bit scared.

Appreciate the wealth of info contributed so far., that’s great.

Hi Everyone.

I was active on the other forum, working up from a Gaggia Cubika & pre-ground, via Mazzer Jolly & Gaggia Classic (both heavily modded) and eventually, eek £s later, with a Niche and a Vesuvius. At which point, Coffee life got very easy, ‘real’ life got complicated and I became a very occasional visitor.

Imagine my horror, when logging on tonight, to see what has happened over there.

So, here I am. Great to see some of the old names here. I can’t promise to be super-active but I’ll try & give something back if I can.

Right, time to explore this place. :)

Hey all, just jumped over from the other site after I read what went down. Thanks for starting this forum.

I started off with pour overs and a cheap handgrinder back in 2016 at university in the US. I am now studying in Rome and the experience of leaving university in between lessons to walk to the corner café to have a cap/espresso for a euro stoked a coffee spark within me I didn’t know I had. I started with a flair classic and an 1zpresso hand grinder in the summer of 2020. In the summer of 2021, I bought a Bezzera BZ09 and a DF64. It’s been great to enter into the world of coffee with helps like this forum. Your kindness and your knowledge are much appreciated.

I was about to signup for another forum, but read about the behaviour of the new owners and decided to skip it and sign up here instead. I’m just starting out with a v60 kit, bambino plus and sage grinder. Had a delonghi esam 4200 before but it gave up the ghost.

Also hopped across from the other forum - follower of many forums but only an occasional participant as most people have better theoretical/technical knowledge and my wife has a better palate. British but live in Prague - it’s better that way - having the wealth of exotic choices on UK classifieds relatively far from reach has saved me a lot of money! Expobar Leva DB + Niche now, previously Rancilio Silvia & Gaggia MDF / Baratza Sette 270. Would drive back to the UK for a used Cremina / Evo / Londinium though :D

Hi everyone

Like others, I also learned about this new forum from members of the CoffeeF***m and joined.

I have long been a coffee enthusiast, but I am only just making my first meaningful steps as a home barista, although I have owned a Sage barista express for > 1 year now.

I love espresso based drinks, and typically spend a lot of my free time reading/watching/ experimenting on blends/ brew ratios/ grind settings and the like.

I am looking forward to interacting with you all and demystifying the wonderful world of home brewing!

My coffee journey has gone to another level and hopefully this year the final level in terms of kit….but maybe I shouldn’t have said that?!?!?,…..totally loving my Lelit Bianca purchased this last year and I’ve switched my water to an Osmio Zero. I prefer light to medium roasts, rarely dar but I have my moments! shout out to Stewarts of Trent Bridge who are the primary supply to my addiction!

Just started on this forum today. Living in Fukuoka, Japan. Been in coffee and espresso my whole adult life, love the taste, but now trying to seriously improve my game. Currently using a La Spaziale Vivaldi Mini (7 years) and Niche (2 months). Looking for new horizons and experiences to explore in espresso and espresso-based drinks. I trust I found the place here.
