MattH Welcome to the forum, I know of the TZ watch forum…you will find much of what applies to watches, also applies to coffee 😁

Hi, came here from .. another UK based coffee forum. I rekindled my love for coffee about 2 years ago when I bought an espresso machine, a MaraX, sadly it’s also the reason I am here now because it has some issues :( Otherwise it has been brilliant and gotten my fiancee more interested in coffee as well. I used to live in the UK for about 8 years but moved back to Sweden earlier this year.

I have been lurking on the dark side for many years never introduced myself there, so thought I would here. Discovered this forum yesterday.

Coffee journey started many years ago (~20) when I wanted to get a coffee machine. Went to JL saw some basic consumer machines, was nearly going to get one. Then my wife advised I should do some research. Was thinking about it, went out the shop and came back later, and the machine I wanted had gone. Thankfully.

I did my research and got a Gaggia classic and grinder - it came from italy. This served me well for around 10 years, until i started filling it with tap water and it finally packed up. Gave me an excuse to upgrade. Got a Alex Duetta Mark 3 which I am still happily using.

I also do my own roasting and doing a really lousy job of selling some roasted coffee online as a side hustle.

Glad i found this forum!

Hello everyone! Happy New Year! My name is David from Southern California.
I just bought a second hand Vesuvius with S/N B00055, pretty old made in 10/2014. It is running ok but I also trying to find out where to buy the parts. I am thinking of refurbishing the lever.

    1. Operating Cam, it pretty worn out but usable.
    2. Cam lever gaskets

As well to get the magnet for the gear pump.

    Thank you!

      Kape17 Welcome, David!

Parts for the Vesuvius - I’d contact ACS directly, and ask if there is some appointed distributor for the US, or if they can help directly. sales@mevsrl.net

Kape17 Welcome to the forum. Lever spindle gaskets, (there are 2) are a standard part available from any Espresso parts supplier. Cam itself shouldn’t be worn, what makes you think it is?

The fluidotech gear pump magnet is again a standard part you can order, cheaper than getting it shipped from Italy. Your parts supplier may not even be charged for it for a pump of that vintage, as it was during the time when fluid o tech realised they had problems with some of the pump magnets in that year (incorrectly potted).

DavecUK Thank you! I have been watching and enjoying your YouTube videos. I bought the machine used 3 weeks ago. The cam is too shiny (please see picture). Is this normal, need to be replace? Thanks!

Kape17 I('m pretty sure that’s fine, the cam is cut to prevent the lever dropping because the PI chamber in the group is disabled.

DavecUK Thanks Dave! I am sure I have many more questions.

DavecUK This is interesting, i have a friend of mine with the same problem but he can’t find the magnetic rotor anywhere and a new pump it’s cost a lot.

The problem is that he live in Thailand too but if there are some vendors that can sale only the rotor maybe i can pass the contact. Thanks.

DavecUK Hi Dave, do you have the part number for the magnet, so I can contact fluidotech here in the US?

                Thanks, David

Thanks, for the opportunity to share my thoughts with others of a like kind. I was one of the lucky children my mother found it Okay to allow me to enjoy coffee when I was a young as 8 years.. Maybe she thought I would be a better schoolboy if I was initially stimulated with some caffeine. That was 65 years ago..And I have brewed, roasted and enjoying the coffee fruit.

I haven’t been careful, The amount of coffee equipment I purchased over the years and disposed of … in the effort to achieve the perfect cup…I’m ashamed now. Yet, it seems there is lately an enormous amount of new equipment is offered each year. What shall we do ? All these new toys.

It’s good to see that individuals are returning back to some simple pour-over and it’s simplicity. To achieve a terrific brew.

I hope I will be a good custodian from now on…

Kape17 I don’t, but trust me they will know exactly what you want. If you really can’t find the part number, I can do some digging, I have one, but I am not sure it has the original box, just not sure where it is off hand. Otherwise you can ask ACS directly and they will tell you.

DavecUK I will share in the forum if I find out the part number as well. Thank you

Hello, I have another question to fix another issue with my vintage Vesuvius.
My brew lever drops *just* enough after the low pressure 1st stage as it enters into the next, higher pressure phase. The lever drop is very small, just enough to disengage the button. If I babysit the lever by holding it up gently during the transition to the higher pressure phase it stays there. Thank you, David
