Camby The monetisation of voluntary forums was a bit of an eye opener.
The forum used to be owned by an individual and was sold (for a considerable amount of money), some 2 ish years ago to the first new owners. To their credit the new owners they kept the forum much the same, but without monetisation, it would have closed. The difference was this monetisation was a little more public and required because the forum was dying.
The corporation who finally purchased the forum have a business model I morally disagree with, as did the other 2 mods. Plus their treatment of customers and users left much to be desired.. So I closed my other forum on Tapatalk and set this up…a genuine non-profit, never be sold forum. On free software and free hosting,
