Mazzer Royal ?

Hi all

I am in a position to get a Mazzer Royal for 250€ / £200 is this worth a punt it works okay but it needs a really good clean.

The reason for me looking is I need a grinder with “balls” for my café the present grinders are not quite powerful enough and my domestic grinder Quamer M80E is more up to the job but the Mazzer is a beast.

Any opinions?

AndyBev If it’s for a Cafe, it’s probably going to be fine….just make sure it’s not knackered. Take the top burr carrier off and on the spin down, listen for the bearings….see if the bottom burr carrier is OK no movement as well.

DavecUK Dave does that advice hold true for most grinders?

tompoland only ones with no gearbox and AC induction motors. Effectively something that spins down feely….then you can usually hear bad bearings on the spin down. You might also feel bearing wear in the burr carrier.

Thanks Dave, all is smooth I could not resist and picked it up after a run up all is quiet bearing wise.

It just needs a good clean up and a strip down, the dispenser is gummed up a bit but that’s not a problem. It will be in operation by Wednesday for opening.

AndyBev Just need a set of genuine OEM burrs, don’t use non OEM ones.
