Righty ho! Here is the story. I bought this LP for £60 as a non runner. It seems to be in really good condition, other than the usual rust under the drip tray. I spoke at length with theespressoshop.co.uk saying I wanted:
full service and descale
sight glass
element
any problems fixed that needed fixing
They quoted me around £140 plus vat but said it might be more or less, depending on the engineers report. I wanted to age it so tried taking the plastic base off but did not have the right Torx screw. I could see the workings were well rusted. I tried putting water into the boiler but then I found the body was loose on the base and the water ran through!
So, I sent it up to Glasgow. I think this is a 51 mm.The actual work they did or charged me for was:
ES11024 Domestic lever service
371133 Lever group internal piston sleeve
331335 1000watt 230v element
451308 Pressure switch 0.5 - 1.2 bar
31104704 Brass boiler to base ring 80 mm
2952015 Safety valve with anti vac
They also replaced the plastic base cover and replaced a host of pins, etc
The bill was £252.36
The idea was to have a machine that was working but did not stand me a whole shed load of money. I have spent £312.36 plus a few quid on a brass single hole tip.
