Just checked Lakeland and they do seem to still be selling the filters. £112 for 8… ouch. But they should last me 6 years or so… £20 per years seems like the deal of the century all of a sudden. And think I paid £35 for 4 filters a 4 or 5 years ago…

MediumRoastSteam I am also on the same boat. I wish I had made better use of the clearance deale they had before closing the Cullingan website.

Are you using the newer filters or the legacy ones? I suspect the legacy ones will eventually finish and it seems like the jugs for the new ones are not that widely available either anymore, which might be a problem for me in the near future.

I’d be cautious with purchasing too many filters in advance especially if they last long time. They pre- rinse them with water from factory.

crimson89 - I use one every 10 months. Bought 4 in advance. I’m still around.

erkal - but I only have two cups of coffee per day :) sometimes one id I’m at work - and I have an Elizabeth which is rather frugal with water usage. And, I don’t use ZeroWater for anything else.

erkal that’s what I do. Mine always has water ready inside it, thus covering the bottom part of the filter. I never leave the jug dry/empty

I know the advice DaveC always gave regarding the filters for the countertop RO machines was not to exceed the recommended exchange date by much. Not because it affected the RO function but for the build up of bacteria in the filter that is harder to detect

dfk41 Sound advice, but if the water is being heated to brew coffee, then that will negate most risks, plus TDS meters register both organic & non-organic material, so bacterial growth would show here.

Agree with such operating temperatures I wouldn’t worry about bacteria at all.

Mik3 I used it before. it strips everything out so the water ends up too empty for coffee and not good for machine long term.

Beanmechanic we remineralise by adding potassium bicarbonate as above

Feeding RO isn’t an issue as we add 10g of potassium bicarbonate into a litre of RO to make a concentrate; and, 10 ml of that concentrate is added to a litre of RO for the machine.

We have a counter top RO that gets mineralised. It’s been 5 years without any issues. Touchwood.
