Cuprajake That’s a good screen. Ben recently posted that they “might” also make a smaller power board for the DE1, which will allow it to run at the same fill rate as the Bengle. While it’s only 12ml/s max, it will bring the max flow rate of the DE1 into alignment with other machines that use vibe pumps. The rotary pump update will only be made to the Bengle, tho (it’s a few years off, as well).

I play at being a farmer in my retirement.
You have to have something to stay active.
The shed floor goes through dirty/clean phases, it is sealed and cleanable but machinery leaks.
Always.
The Studmistress won’t let me put in a toilet or shower as she would then consider it a “Malignant” shed.

@Raja123 are you uk based? interested in some light roast uk roasters, need to switch it up a bit, last lot i ordered were a bit too medium for me!!!

Cuprajake yes, in the UK. I sometimes get stuff from Sweven (espresso and filter). They have been one of the better I have tried on this side. Shipping is very reasonable, and Jimmy, the owner, is communicative if asked questions about brewing etc.

Nice. Lemme know how you get on with it. If it’s processed, it’s usually better with a lower-extraction basket and burrs. Their V60 stuff is a nice experience also. My wife likes filter brews, so we often share and have a natter.

dfk41 How are you David? I completely see your point! As you know I’ve been on a somewhat similar journey to @Cuprajake and @Adrianmsmith ! And I’m now the proud owner of a Decent. So why? Well partly its the way John Buckman does things, partly its the whole fun of doing things differently and partly that having restored my ’67 Cremina I wanted the polar opposite. Best of both worlds. Its a bit like the for-and-against of driving a Tesla (I love my model S!!) Take care! Graham

Grahamsphillips Graham, I have done my fair share of odd things in my life! So as I said, I was not calling out Decent owners. I was just making the point that I no longer have the mental agility needed to play. I had a Vesuvius years ago, and hated it!

Tbh if you wanted it as a straight 9 bar e61 clone you can throw the tablet in a drawer and never use it lol.

But i get they are a daunting machine, its information overload

Cuprajake I understand Jake, but if you did that then there would be little point in buying it in the first place surely! I am just surprised that there has not been some serious opposition for it yet

In reality there isn’t many machines 2-4k

And I’ve had a fair few of them and quite a few have had issues

The two machines ive never had to do anything with have been the bianca v2 and decent,

Beyond that there are not many machines that come with 2yrs warranty and the option to extend that to the life of the machine,

I know the decent isn’t for everyone one, the levers as much as i like one, will never be back in my kitchen as the mrs wont use them.

My comment about opposition was more aimed at Decent style machines. I am genuinely surprised that no one has brought (though a couple have tried) a tablet style profiling machine to compete

At face value it doesn’t seem like the best business opportunity for a potential competitor. A niche market of a niche market and presumably not the cheapest of tech to create if you’re doing something proprietary.

The Decent guy was a super intelligent (software?) engineer before making these right? If you didn’t already have those smarts it feels like a really financially risky product to get involved with.

Don’t most espresso machines use a Gicar “computer” or whatever it’s called. I think most manufacturers focus on the nuts and bolts rather than software.
