Would people be interested in the long story of how the whole Vesuvius Evo Leva project came about, because with me it started 18 years ago. What happened, why it happened, why certain decisions were made and a peep behind the curtain about why certain technology and components were chosen, plus a little more about how it works?

OK well I am preparing Part 1, I think it might be a 2 or 3 parter. Partly because I want to indulge myself a little with some background and partly because I want to get everything across accurately as to Who, what, where, when, how, and why? James Gannon (Clark Gable) once said that…..in the well known movie Teachers Pet with one of my favourite singers, Doris Day playing Erica Stone.

In a way that was quite a different story, perhaps one day worth telling, as it’s how I got to know both Paolo and Antonio.

No idea whether my vote has registered or not, but I love stories like this. My wife despairs of the similar things I watch on YouTube or buy books of (you’ve reminded me of a Commodore Amiga back story I purchased at the start of lockdown and never got around to read, so off to search that out!)

Thank you for the opportunity to catch a glimpse behind the curtains. It is not something that should be taken for granted!

Based on what you’ve shared, may I ask if you happen to know the reason behind the launch of a 1GR Vostok? It seems unlikely that ACS would develop an entirely new 1GR model solely for the few, albeit remarkable, features in comparison to the EVO. Or was it really just a matter of Paolo’s personal preference for the Vostok’s design?

LMSC If I’m honest I’d leave it alone apart from 2 things, that quieter pump and a few extra software features aroun eco mode. This is a machine where some clever eco modes, really make sense, and are well worth implementing.

Also standardise on a proper stainless GU10 type clip for the shower screen.

Are 24v quieter pump with similar feature easily available in the UK? What do they cost? You did say it needs to fill as fast as the current pump.

DavecUK I’m surprised that ACS could “get away” with as few energy saving features in the Evo as they seem to have done, though what is there is very sensible. It seems that the Bianca LCC has just been upgraded in response to EC energy saving requirements (“stand by” mode), so it may be just a matter of time for ACS - and hopefully the firmware upgrades willl be easily replicable in older machines through a USB connection…
