They must be making some fat profits from this.

IMHO Weber is starting to lose credibility with non sensical promotional copy such as this: "No more endless wiping, citric acid, or vinegar baths to remove grime. Use it, rinse it, wipe it, and it stays perptually clean. Since you aren't subjecting your basket to repeated acid baths, it will last virtually forever." Interestingly, in the five minutes that I copied the above from the Weber website the word "perpetually" with was replaced with "endlessly". Not sure it's much better. I am a fan of Weber products however I wish they would tone down the hype.

It's crazy what people will buy, probably on brand name alone, so very much the Apple of coffee! I'm sure anyone with a good knowledge of machining could knock something like this up for a lot less. I wonder if they'll go to the level of VST and show the QC on the basket holes to prove uniformity. I'll stick to my £30 basket and PF handle I have.

It really is remarkable spiel for this product. I could maybe understand someone thinking this is an innovative product if it was the first bottomless portafilter, but it is mind boggling that anyone would pay the amount of money they are charging for this product. Pure insanity

Wow, for those people who can’t be bothered to press the button a few times to flush through more volume if they want. Alternatively you can spend nearly the same money and get the Ito mod I did. Then you can have a backflush program that will do multiple flushes with soaks as well.

This is right up there with their shot mirrors and tumblers (nice editing on the tumbler to make it look like the bed ended up flat - we know the reality is they did wdt and then stuck the tumbler back on the portafilter for the shot).

On the other forum we had a competition running to see who could do a functionally identical shot mirror for the cheapest. Some people even went for improvements with led lights and magnification. I think the price was around £10.

I’ve been seeing this graphic from Weber that claims that a ‘standard’ basket only has 48mm effective diameter of holes. Can anyone here confirm that with their own basket and calipers?

I think that the “abnormal” flow is in effect more efficient, the cone effect that we always saw is because the basket flexion under pressure, the Unifilter should be very rigid, so there is not a convergence in the center of the basket.

Anyway, it’s a nice object, but why not producing just a basket with such specs, suitable for the majority of bottomless portafilters?

The only way to see the Unifilter suitable “for the maximum number of people and minimum cost” is to wait few months, then some chinese will do it for peace of mind, then people will buy in quantities and will began to discuss in a 1000 pages forum thread🤣.
