Kiss the Hippo, Rwanda, Nziza washed red Bourbon. (red apple, orange, floral).
Crankhouse, Colombia, Jhoan Vergara Finca la Flores washed thermal shock Java. (Sparkling elderflower, blackcurrant.)
Both coffees are fairly delicate, but broadly representative of the notes, the Col., Jhoan Vergara also having some minerally, bitter hop notes in the finish, interesting but not bitter enough to dominate/ruin the cup. Not so sure about the ‘sparkling’ aspect?
I’d give both 7.5/9, which is about average for my drip brew scores.
13.8g coffee, 30g poured every 30s (each pour taking 15s), via Hario Drip Assist, first 3 inner, last 4 outer, to 210g total.
