HarveyMushman For the 01 try:
16g (if you really want to stick to 60g/L for some unknown reason you could brew with 14.5g), I’m currently around 3.33 on my Ode V1.1, can’t say how that relates to an Ode Gen 2.
Rinse & preheat brewer, I use a 1L Pyrex jug and 150-200ml boiling water & leave sitting in the water to heat up whilst prepping.
Only have about a spare 100ml in the kettle (350g total) when you start brewing, too heavy a kettle will lead to you pouring too fast/aggressively and may lead to silty/charred tasting/powdery mouthfeel cups.
Place preheated brewer on cup/server, dose coffee & shake to level. Let water hit a rolling boil, then brew as soon as it clicks off.
0:00 pour 33g in 15s, in a spiral, edge in, then out again from centre. Spout close to bed & water drips straight down from spout, not hosing in an arc.
0:30 pour up to 66g in a spiral, again 15s actual pouring.
1:00 pour up to 100g as above.
1:30 pour up to 133g
2:00 pour up to 166g
2:30 pour up to 200g
3:00 pour up to 233g.
When you notice that the flow through the bed starts to slow and liquid sits above the bed until you start the next pour, then pour subsequent pours in the centre. If the bed has literally just drained prior to the next pour, do 1 or 2 circles then in the centre. At a consistent grind setting you might decide 1st 3 in spirals, remainder in centre for example. Centre pours will take a little longer than the spirals, maybe 20s each.
Once all the water is in, note time to dry bed, you will see a ‘twinkling’ effect as the last water drains through, leave the brewer in place for another 30s before removing from the cup/server (never lift the filter paper out whilst still on the cup & never lift the brewer off the cup whilst liquid is above the bed…unless you’re like 6 min into the brew and there’s still tens of ml left to go).
It’s always handy to know how much beverage you end up with, if convenient to record.
Stir the coffee from top to bottom, let it cool a little & taste. Report back in a dedicated thread and I’ll troubleshoot with you as best I can.
I suggest 233g total because 250g is a rubbish number for dividing by anything other than 50g. If, to tune for more/fewer pulses, you can then go to 40g or 30g pulses for 240g total (the +/-4g in brew water weight won’t be significant).
I can’t advise on 2 cup brews/larger than about 20g dose.
