OK - VAT, import duty and delivery needs to be factored in but by my calculations, Argos should be available in the UK for under £1k. A La Pavoni professional is around £750 and is much more basic at first glance. Don't think there are any other spring levers on the market at this price currently although Londinium have had a small footprint spring lever on the drawing board and is rumoured to be debuting at some point. Like the idea the Argos can be tweaked with the addition of an analogue pressure gauge and a blue tooth pressure transducer kit first offered on the Olympus Cremina.

Their design seems neither classic or modern, looks very odd. Like a prototype in construction. I think it looks very interesting, although I’m happy with my setup and don’t plan on adding another machine. If I was looking for another machine though I think this would be the one, although given how close they are to release I’d wait for some reviews. I quite like the design, it reflects what it is and gives you options to find what suits you. Want a manual pressure gauge that can be had, want a Bluetooth one, no problem, don’t care about the direct lever and would rather rely on just the spring pressure, no problem too. Ross, the maker of this, also seems very transparent in his approach. Where possible he’s tried to use off the shelf parts to make it easy to maintain. The only key thing I’m aware of that is the portafilter, which has thinner lugs. The reason for this is that otherwise he would have needed to use a thicker top plate, which would have pushed the price up.

@"Systemic"#p15162 The base price is high as is, adding a pressure gauge wouldn't be too radical surely. its pretty much a necessity for anyone serious in espresso (who else would buy this to be honest).

Plenty of lever machines don't have a built in pressure gauge - Olympia Cremina, Londinium, Profitech. In fact, most lever machines don't. That said, inclusion of a group pressure gauge was one reason I went for the Evo. And, let's face it, an extra $35 isn't exactly a deal breaker is it and it gives potential buyers a choice. Some buyers might want to go for the bluetooth transducer add on and I guess such buyers would be hacked off if the analogue pressure gauge was factory fit.

Systemic yes indeed, a first batcher here. Ordered the lot: powder coating, 6 and 8 bar springs, pressure guage and the app thingy. It’s a revolutionary design and I want to experience it and compare it to the Streitman and other Levers that I have coming and going.

Sham Sham not everyone wants a pressure guage so I suspect that may be why it’s not included as a part of the base package. This is often true of direct lever lovers such as Strietman or Cremina owners, the less tech the better.

Only thing is, I forgot ask which year 😀

But I can assure you, I’ll post a gazillion photos when the Princess arrives.
