So why are they still building the great white elephant HS2, which is a monster compared to that small white elephant the Billenium Dome, that they gave away for a £1 a few years later, after it had stood empty. I always predicted HS2 would end up costing 200 billion, although they say 100 billion now as they are not doing half the project. Even so I think that 100bn bill is set to go up and up. When the first half completes (probably in 2040), who exactly is really going to need to use it.
