drdre89 I tried a couple of the OCD spinning things but it seemed to me that they only move grinds around at the top of the puck. Any clumps remain intact at the bottom. So I switched to a puck rake and that gives more consistent results, provided I pay careful attention when I rake.
PS I have two of them for different sized baskets I.e. for a 54mm and 49mm baskets.
tompoland looks like the iron bark (on the right) would match the wood grain on the niche

Exactly what I found….I did some tests with layers and marking lines on the coffee bed….using one and then tamping. End result…layers were unmoved, lines intact.
They are expensive but I always think that I spend so much on a premium machine and a premium grinder that it warrants going premium on accessories such as a tamper or puck rake or scale.
DavecUK I WDT first then use the O.C.D tool to flatten the puck so it’s a nice flat surface to tamp.
DavecUK Same here. Stopped using an OCD type spinner for same reason. Might give a nice flat surface but will compress one side more than the if other if not level first. And if it is level after raking then no need to ocd. Now just rake and tamp and consistent pulls
I’ve pulled the trigger on the flat Iron bark 5 star pro 58mm tamper. You’re to blame @tompoland ! 😂
Are they available only from Australia?
By the way I’m going to Australia tomorrow 😎
Uncletits Melbourne based from memory but he ships everywhere. Great guy, very helpful and he can make any weird size you want.
Uncletits and on behalf of all Australians, welcome and brings lots of money to boost our economy. And if you are coming by postcode 4562 Queensland let me know and I’ll get the espresso ready.
tompoland I love the Sunshine Coast 🏄
We lived in NW suburbs of Sydney for 9 years but came home in 2014
Our daughter lives in Nowra NSW and we’re heading there
Like the tampers too
Uncletits I loved Sidney when I went there….absolutely fantastic city. I was only there for about 10 days, but found it friendly, much cheaper than the UK. Even managed a trip to Katoomba by train, an amazing scenic railway trip to an incredible place.
Harbour cruise and Lammingtons….mmm
So we’re here now and I’ve also gone for the iron bark one with some extras as our Niche is due end of May to go with Liz
Downside is we are struggling with our daughters Pressurised Sunbeam ATM
Uncletits ooh nasty, doing it tough!
So mine arrived - this is the Iron Bark Wood
Also bought an infusion base as pictured and some dosing cups
Only thing I need to do now is fly 12,000 miles home and collect my now delivered Niche from a neighbours
sooo … where are you and where is the niche? (holiday time?)
We’re staying in Nowra NSW with our daughter and the Niche (and indeed my Elizabeth) are in Cheshire UK - we’re here for another 2 weeks
Ah yes, I remember how. Taking back some Tim Tams I hope? Boost our export sales to the UK.
tompoland That’s a Penguin with caramel in the middle…..mmm
