tompoland The genuine Mazzer Robur 83mm conical only seem to be “3 Phase” which I presume means they are designed for powerful three phase grinders that can put more load on the burrs.
Mazzer motor power spec is the same for single- and three-phase, though since the three-phase motor runs cooler it is allowed a higher duty cycle (up to 100%, i.e. continuous run) - this may make a difference in the specced material / finishing / heat treatment of the burrs, but I’m speculating. The interesting thing is that the Robur is the only conical Mazzer grinder for which 2 different sets of burrs are specified (186C and 187C); the Kold (and the smaller Kony) use the same set for single- and three-phase (186C).
Congrats on the new grinder - it looks lovely.
ETA - I might have solved the mystery: the motor axle is shaped differently on some single- vs. three-phase motors, and it requires a 10 mm wrench for removal of the burrs vs. a 13 mm. This may imply that the internal burr hole is also shaped differently in the 186C vs. the 187C burrs, even if all the grinding surfaces are exactly the same.
