drdre89 Dare I ask what your alternate is?
things that make you go grrr!
Gagaryn It would not be too much of a revolution with 2 being dead and the other ones very old age pensioners….LOL. But the point I was getting at, is revolution or not, someone has to rule….and who would that be?
Pompeyexile thanks for sharing, a great story. Time keeps moving… !

Auto-renewal.
And the fact that you don’t have an option to opt-out on entry.
And the fact that when you get the rip-off auto-renewal quote, you need to go on-line to cancel auto-renewal.
And the fact that a week after you cancel auto-renewal, you get a letter that they will soon auto-renew.
And the fact that when you go on their online chat to confirm you can ignore the letter, you need to answer 20 questions to the bot before it will transfer you to a human agent.
And the fact that once you get to the human agent, you need to answer all the questions again (for security), because obviously talking to a bot is useless and they don’t have access before wasting your time again.
Direct Line Insurance, if you have to know, but it’s the same with many companies.
Auto renewal quote went from £300 last year to £370 (blaming the hike on “Insurance Premium Tax going from 10% to 12% in June 2017” (???).
Bought an equivalent policy from someone else for £255. These companies really take us for idiots, which we probably are.
Gagaryn I thought this was prohibited now as part of the Pricing Practices Regulations that took effect last year. Insurers can still provide auto-renewal but opt-out provision is mandatory.
Didn’t know that. Hopefully something will improve.
Not holding my breath for a fundamental change though: as this is deeply rooted in the mentality of those companies, I’m sure they will keep doing everything they can to keep ripping us off. They will probably succeed.
dutchy101 Scams like this. Can well imagine people replying and then plugging a device into their router to leave rhemselves wide open to being taken to the cleaners
Lol - that’s not a scam, that’s just a message telling you that your analog phone line is being switched off so your phone will need to be plugged into your router.
I’ve just seen an email about it too. Hahaha

It was the random telephone number that threw me. I blocked it too. That’ll learn ’em

DavecUK Makes sense. No need to adulterate another thread!
Idiot drivers jumping red lights. It’s become an epidemic. Was waiting at lights when four cars (obviously together) turned in front of me. The last car went through 25 secs after the lights had gone to red on his side. Can remember when such an event was as rare as hens’ teeth. Now it’s part and parcel of driving especially in built up areas. So dangerous.
Same with road rage - see it on an almost daily basis. Couple of weeks ago, driving into the centre of Madchester along a dual carriageway, an oik in a Range Rover Sport (natch) took offence to me changing lanes in front of him despite there being a space. He got so irate, he went on the other side of the road against oncoming traffic to try and get past me. To avoid further trouble, I pulled into the inside lane and let him go only to watch him carve up another motorist a few cars ahead. I have the incident on dashcam and it looks even more shocking when reviewing it than it did at the time.

Systemic amen to that.
At least 50% of road users shouldn’t be allowed on the road the way they drive.
As well as the above, mobile phone users while driving. Seriously. I see Mum’s in their SUV, kids in the back and they’re scrolling through presumably mindless cr*p on TikTok. HGV drivers navel gazing down the motorway. Next time you’re walking past traffic lights have a look how many people have their phone on their lap. I see it literally every day.
As a biker with a significant amount of metal in my leg and permanent pain thanks to a reckless driver who wasn’t paying attention it absolutely infuriates me when people can’t put their phones in their pockets when behind the wheel.
Camera detection and instant driving ban would be a welcome solution.

When supermarkets rearrange the shelves to get us to discover things we don’t need. Where the f*-"+ did they hide the olives!
