I’ve had my skuma for maybe 2 weeks now.
First off, I must say Alex is lovely to deal with. Very responsive on whatsapp and he’ll work patiently with you to troubleshoot any problems. I truly hope skuma succeeds.
As for the product itself, I’ve enjoyed using it. Pretty nice interface and not complicated to use.
As an RO machine it is the only option available to me without the need for plumbing in/water line and it’s available at a great price. I’ve tested with a TDS metre and from my tap water of 60ppm (measured in the skuma input tank), I consistently get 15-20ppm. I’ve not had other RO systems before but this feels acceptable to me, maybe others can chime in. My current infusion is the hydration boost which gives a 180-200ppm output when infused. There’s a bit of need to ‘flush’ water though when switching from infused to uninfused ‘pure’ RO output (which you can do at a press of a button). To demonstrate I dispensed some hydration boost water, then turned off the infusion. The first uninfused ¼ cup measured 80ppm and the next ¼ cup measured 20ppm. Possibly some residue in the spout getting into the next cup, I don’t know. Still, not unreasonable to me.
The infusions I find really cool. They come in 200mL glass bottles which are plug and play. And these infusions are at a rate of 2,8mL per 1L dispensed. I could totally see myself having a few of the 200mL infusion bottles in the fridge ready to go and be swapped out for pourover use vs espresso, vs drinking and etc. The great thing is that the glass bottle is a simple bottle that you can make your own brewing concentrate in, so you’re not limited to the coffee balance infusion sold by Skuma.
These are just some of my experiences from a period of use. It’s getting long so I’ll stop here. All in all I find the product works, is good value, the user experience is slick and aftersales support is amazing. Well worth getting especially on the discount someone previously mentioned.
