Torr Toys hoppers or alternatives?

Given that I’m incredibly happy with the Super Jolly I’ve been upgrading, I find myself browsing Torr Toys rather lovely glass hoppers as the finishing touch. I love the clear glass one with the fluted lines and bubbles.

However, they’re incredibly expensive, and I’m not sure how fragile they are?

Has anyone ever purchased one or is there an alternative manufacturer of glass hoppers that look as good?

I appreciate it seems crazy to spend so much money on a purely cosmetic part of a functional object but I feel like I’ve surpassed common sense in this hobby many years ago.

Not sure but I think they are specific to Torr ?🤔

I’ve commandeered a piece of stainless steel exhaust tube to make myself a small hopper (150 g vs. the Ceado’s gigantic 1.6 kg tank). Definitely not glass, but it can be mirror polished easily, it is literally hard as steel and it’s cheap (£7 for 250 mm, Ø57); as an added bonus, a 54 mm tamper fits the inside diameter so nicely (after a little fettling) that it is usable as a bellows.

Not quite a perfect alternative, but perhaps viable?

Thanks yeah the Mazzer Mini short hopper I have now works well, I just like how the Torr Toys ones look. I appreciate buying a €300 hopper for aesthetics is madness but as above, I feel like I’m way past rational decisions with this hobby already.

always fancied one as they are a real party piece, can they be had from germany too?

Looking into it a bit I think they’re hand-blown and each fairly unique so in that sense I guess it’s no different to an ornamental vase or decanter.

And yes I’m just trying to talk myself into it.

I don’t own their hoper. But, I did buy their Torr Gold Convex tamper 54.4 mm.

Nice, how is it? Certainly looks good.

I’d probably order a tamper too as I’ve been looking for a walnut one and makes sense to combine it into the international shipping if I go for the hopper.

Ernie1 It’s great. I use it on stock baskets. It’s smaller in size on the IMS baskets, for which I have a flat Bravo tamper.
