dfk41 Cuprajake No carbs as in dietary or health reasons? I eat a similar breakfast most days of sausage or bacon with eggs of some sort, but I also eat porridge on a sunday. If you eat a biscuit with 10 carbs in, it dumps it into your body in one go causing a spike in your bloods. If you eat porridge, then yes they have more carbs in them but they are slow release so have next to no effect on you

Elcarajillo Another porridge eater here, Flahavans giant oats with a variety of seeds added plus a handful of flame raisins thrown in = energy til lunch time. 😄
Pompeyexile Another Flahavan’s porridge person here, which we get surprisingly from Aldi. Throw in a few blueberries or raspberries and a dollop of either honey or Maple Syrup and you are good to go. We also do oats in a jar which is basically the same but cold made the night before (and a dollop of fat free yoghurt added to the mix. My other half loves it to take to work on the two days she goes in to the office.
Pompeyexile Elcarajillo Have you tried their ‘ seedy’ oats mix ??👍 Can’t say I have seen it around. What shop is it in?
Pompeyexile Just realised the porridge in Aldi is not Flahavans it is one of their looky likeys called Kavanaghs with a strikingly similar look to Flahavans which is why I was duped… Mind you it is organic and still very good porridge oats. Now I have looked at it maybe not a looky likey but just a different brand…
Elcarajillo Todays offering. Bacalao Monacal. AKA. layered fried potato topped with spinach, onion & garlic , with cod and Manchego cheese.
Pompeyexile Just watched Jamie Olivers 5 ingredient recipe and made this… Of course I added something a bit extra in mine…sliced pears within the Greek yoghurt filling. Healthiest thing I’ve made in yonks!😁
Doram Pompeyexile Of course I added something a bit extra in mine…sliced pears within the Greek yoghurt filling. Those pears look awfully similar to figs. ;-)
Pompeyexile Doram Yes sliced figs in top, but I added sliced pears placed on the bottom then the yoghurt filling poured over them so they are hidden inside which the orginal recipe did not have. 😉
Pompeyexile Home-made Ginger Nuts. Just the thing to go with a cuppa… Just did a side by side comparison with a McVities Ginger Nut…NO CONTEST!
Dusk Pompeyexile The important question is, are they fully crunchy or are they still a little chewy in the middle?
Pompeyexile Dusk First batch had a slight chew in the middle but I cooked the second batch a little longer and they are lovely and crunchy all the way through… can’t be a proper Ginger Nut otherwise as far as I’m concerned.
