I have done the Atkins based diet off and on for 20 odd years.
Over Covid, I let it slip, my weight boomed and my bloods slipped over into Type2 diabetes.
I am early 60s and my cholesterol has always been fine and my hba1c has never been over 84.
The under 20g of carbs is important for the first month to kick start the ketosis.
I found that after that I could still lose weight on 40g or so a day.
It depends a lot on how much you burn off.
My advice has been that, when one adds diabetes to the mix, a low carb diet is problematic.
I asked my doctor at my last diabetes check up about Ozempic.
He looked into it for a week and then told me that it seemed to suit my conditions ideally.
I have been on for 15 weeks now and lost 11kg.
I eat and drink a lot less than I used to.
Still not a lot of carbs but more so just really small portions.
Over the first few weeks the dogs got more of my meals than I did as I just could not eat them.
I think that everyone has different bodies and solutions.
