Hey Guys, I just got a brandnew Puristika and am wondering why the pressure with the blindbasket takes 15-18 seconds until it reaches the set pressure of 8 bars. I can adjust the pressure to 12 bars but than it takes even longer to get there. Do you have any idea what component to check? Thanks a lot and have a great weekend. Paul

Does it still take 15 - 18 secs on the second purge ? Could just be the basket filling up, I always fill my blind basket with hot water from the kettle on first purge.

@"Waitforme"#p18759 Ya its the same for every pull. The third takes just as long as the first. Oh and its the same with coffee in the regular basket - with 4-7red klicks with a C40 Comandante.

Also when the blind filter was loaded and it was slowly coming up to pressure was a tube in the water tank returning water most of the time. And does it still happen if the tank lid is loose, with an air gap?

@"Schnullidulli"#p18770 - not related to the issue you have, but notice all the squeaking when pulling the lever down. You must, when backflushing with chemicals like Cafiza or Puly, always follow up with lubricating the lever cam.

@"MediumRoastSteam"#p18772 Ya i noticed that too, but actually never backflusged with any cemicalwls whatsoever until now. Only filtered water. I ordered kamelianoil and flushed back with this yesterday but nothing changed yet. Should and can I just unscrew the lever and smire some oil there or do I have to take the machine appart to properly lubricate it?

Schnullidulli - to clarify things:

does that rate of rise also happen when you are actually brewing rather than when using the blind filter basket?
could it be that, as Dave is saying, ECM have changed the size of the the jet to 0.5mm, and therefore newer machines are now “slower” to ramp up?

There are a few members with the Puristika here, and would be interesting if they could chime in and share their experience.

It is even worse with coffee in the basket, because it takes more time to saturate the puk until the pressure builds up.

I would love to hear from other puristika users as well.

Does anyone has an idea how I can get rid of the air bubbles from the intake? The bubbles appear before they get into this plastic Adapter which you can see in the video…

I’m having the same issue with my brand new puristika. Flow is about 6.4 g/s. From what I searched, these vibration pumps should get something between 7-8 g/s.

I’ve been able to pull good shots with more time tho.

Did you manage to fix this low flow?

I couldnt fix it and the replacement machine had the same flaw. I think the pump they buy, is just bad. But I managed to get good espresso as well by pulling longer shots

My Puristika is decommissioned at the moment, I checked my notes, but I didn’t note down the flow rate…I don’t remember it being especially slow. When I next run it, I will check the flow rate. The only caveat, my machine was one of the 3 prototypes built about 2 years before they launched. So it might be different. I believe mine has a standard Ulka pump. It has a green ulka label on the other side and I believe is probably an EX5.

The only possibility is, perhaps they used a 0.5mm gicleur, which might slow things down.

I had this ecm puritiska since 10 months ,it works fine for 9 months,but now i have some issues ,seems same ones from this post …pressure needs 15 to 20s to be ok( before it tooks 5 or 6s),with blank basket it’s the same thing,and the water flow i measured ,is between 5g to 6g/s … is someone here for give me some help? Thx

For me the pump doesn’t work correctly, the sound is a little bit different in first 10s , like a lack of “power”,and when i measured the water flow , sometimes i have 52g/55g/65g for 10s… i know i can send it to my dealer but if it’s the pump , i prefer to fix it myself ,less expensive than a shipement and easy to fix it i think .

What water are you using, where in the country or what area/country do you live in?

I use tap water( not a hard one ) with ecm filter in the water tank, i live in france .

Do you have a photo of your pump and the area around it. I remember years ago Michael talked about using a membrane regulator on the pumps to make them quieter….as far as I am aware, he never did, but you never know.

Another question…do you ever switch the machine on, run nothing through the group, come back expecting it to be warmed up and the group is cold or cool. You run some water through the group and after a pause it comes out…then the group heats normally?

I never had some troubles about heating group, i know this ,before to post here i tried to see all posts/videos or comments about puritiska issues. I like to repair myself if possible and understanding how works things,

before this ecm i had an oscar ns for 12 years…repaired it when needed, and learned many things too about expresso machine ,that’s why i bought an ecm :) but maybe not the best choice? :D

ktn Thanks for the photo, but you’re too close, I can’t see anything beyond the outlet of the pump. Look and see if there is a membrane regulator on there.

All looks fine, what does the water tank lid looks like, is there a vent and if there is, is it blocked?

There is no vent on it… i tried with and whitout the tank lid to see a difference but it’s the same situation.

ktn This is the 2nd machine I have heard of with this problem, perhaps they got a bad batch of vibe pumps?
