Cuprajake This forum i class as the third i find very different to use, esp on my mobile which is most my browsing. Ive gotten used to it a little now, but again very little that interests me,
I’m surprised because Flarum actually has one of the best mobile interfaces I’ve ever seen. It’s almost as if they developed it for mobile first.. Might be worth checking you are not seeing it with the desktop view option checked in your browser.
I think with forums, interest comes from what we create ourselves, if things are not interesting, we have to start discussions we think will be. Success, interest and community spirit is down to each one of us. Most of the people with the knowledge are here now and can rebuild that repository quite quickly with up to date and relevant information. In the coffee world, old information is perishable with a relatively short shelf life.
No matter how good the suppository that CFUK is now (and it aint great), in good conscience, I cannot give it my traffic or knowledge any more. Companies like Vscrote are wrong…and in my personal view shouldn’t be supported. They don’t care, their admins are paid and no doubt they will look for volunteer mods to do the work, because a centralised admin “looks after” many forums. They don’t care about the community or coffee…just the database. They have not started the migration to Xenforo yet, when they do (which will be soon), I think it could be quite interesting.
In a few months, when this covid stuff has relaxed a little, we will have a forum day. It won’t be to sell machines, grinders, coffee, or raise money for the “forum”, it will be for us all to get together and get to know each other whilst discussing machines, coffee and roasting. Perhaps those good with latte art, will teach the rest of us, Tait promised such an event but never delivered on it. Perhaps if you are able to come, you might find the forum more interesting.
