This was originally planned to be in Poland, but worldwide events made them move it to Milan. There were some delays on my BA flight, so I arrived at 5pm on the first day, instead of 11am and sadly missed most of a day. On the first day I managed to chat to a few companies I know well and these are some walkthroughs I did mid afternoon on the last day. It was a lot quieter and easier to walk through with a camera. I was just there for the exhibition and I thought it might give a flavour of what I saw. Minima editing and no production quality as usual…especially because I have not been well (Man Flu). I'm surprised the nurri is small. Looks huge in pictures… I suppose I'm incorrectly assuming the body would be the same as their leva. Or is that a new machine? Did you get your hands on the odyssey Argos? I believe they were at the lever dinner. Mind you I'm really bad at watching videos so forgive me if it's in there somewhere and I skipped past it. Also, are these events open to Joe public? Do you need a ticket or an invite or something?

@"hthec"#p20896 The little Nurri is a concept, Antonio wanted to make it a pressure profiler using the vibration pump, I personally felt it would be better as a small PID controlled low energy consumption dual boiler machine. I thought he could have a lot of success with it, if he kept the development, clean and tight to produce a cost effective product. Possibly concentrating on this instead of the GTO. I don't have any idea of it's name yet. At the lever dinner, I did indeed get my hands on the Argos and had a chat with Ross. The Argos looks nice and is very well made, I think it will completely overshadow the Vectis on price and function, if Fracinos past performance is any indication of Vectis innovation and Londiniums subsequent pricing. I had my phone in my pocket at the dinner, but simply forgot, to take photos and video for some reason. There was a Nurri Lever there, a Manument and of course the Evo. I met Lance Hedrick there as well… The event was open to Joe public, SCAA members tickets were 30 euro for 1 day, non members 45 and for 3 days 15 euro more on those prices. The big problem is hotel costs if you want to be close to the exhibition, I was literally 3 or 4 minutes walk from the building. For people further out, there was a taxi strike for 3 or 4 days, so Uber, which of course was more expensive and difficult to get, was the only alternative. Events like Host (next one Host 23) are a bit more expensive….and other smaller ones like the [Trieste Coffee festival](https://www.triestespresso.it/en/) which I will attend on an exhibitors stand, are [upl-image-preview url=https://i.imgur.com/1jSzMIA.png]

Got absolutely nothing, mainly because I missed most of Friday and the close of the Exhibition was Saturday with me leaving at 4pm (it opened at 10 am), so I was rushing around to see people. I even missed out on some Nice ECM bags and I am sure I could have blagged a few freebies here and there, but wasn't really looking….I also saw, but didn't get a chance to visit the Tightvac stand for more of those little dosing cannisters. One of the highlights for me was the Lever Fever evening meal with Lever magazine, I enjoyed that a lot. At Trieste which is much smaller and much more European/eastern block I will be with an exhibitor, so I'll have a lot more time to see if there is anything to grab. I will also be able to walk the floor before the exhibition opens (once the stand is ready), as usually you get in there 1 or 2 hours before opening. That trip is part of a much longer holiday…and I managed to get return tickets for £210 (it used to be about £80 or less before covid). I have to fly BA because everyone else takes 6 - 11 hours plus to fly to Naples, and BA fly direct. In school holiday times it's more than 2.5 times that price. P.S. I have so much coffee stuff anyway, I need to sort a room our with tables etc.. to put all the stuff in, so I can commission and work on machines easily. The idea would be to easily have 6 or 7 machines and 3 or 4 grinders out ready to go at any time….and then just a single machine in the kitchen. It's disgraceful that I fixed the brew boiler heating element gasket on my Vesuvius and have not used it since October 2019! Many of my machines have only had 1 or 2 months use.

Looked like Synesso had a small booth in the distance from the roaster's village, no video of their upcoming ES1? That to me seems like the most interesting upcoming machine, aside from most likely costing a small fortune. Are any of the Nurri machines available to buy yet? Their website and communications are very vague. There was a German forum pre-order for the GTO almost a year ago where it sure seemed like a release was imminent, but I still haven't seen it for sale (or at least in stock) anywhere yet.

DavecUK great stuff Dave, thanks for sharing here. Some of those (can’t remember which on the videos) remind me of the old Apple pc that you could see the internals of, designed by Johnny Ive! I spotted ‘Pentair’ on one of the videos too, wow, they’re even in the coffee game now? They have bought out a very broad range of businesses to date, mainly big industry types though so intrigued as to their coffee presence now

Mayhem Synesso did have a booth in the main area and something in the Village, but there was nothing but their commercial units. The new ES1 isn’t available until autumn 2022. I can’t say I am in love with the looks personally?

With the Nurri Machines, the GTO isn’t quite ready…still at prototypish stage…It’s very difficult to get a new machine/machines of the ground and I think if you spread yourself too thin, without significant resources it’s tricky. Even a large company like ECM/Profitec has to limit the number of projects resulting in new machines. I tested an early version of the GTO for about 3 or 4 weeks last month…but it was simply an engineering review for Antonio.

DavecUK while not as sexy as say a Slayer or Speedster, I find the design to be clean and functional with all the components and ergonomics in exactly the spots where I’d want them. It did occur to me just now though that the machine must be much taller than I initially imagined. Judging by the size of the portafilter, the distance down to the drip tray seems huge and designed to fit tall latte glasses?!

Yep! I’ve done that route a few times :-) - Last time I did it I flew to Rome and hired a car, which we then shared with a bunch of people who also flew to Rome. If I was going to Naples itself, I’d just fly to Rome and get a train. It takes less than 2 hours. And you can have a wonder around Rome which is always a pleasure. :-)

hthec yes it is quite similar to the Decent. But visually, the main thing I do not like about the Decent is the unsightly secondary handle affixed to the grouphead (though I do get that it may be a good idea functionally on a smaller/lighter machine). Also not a fan of the complete lack of tactility with everything being controlled by capacitive touch.

Still, I imagine it is only a matter of time until I eventually get a Decent. Functionally there is nothing else like it and all other machines I find tempting (like the ES1 above) is sure to be even more expensive.

Mayhem that secondary handle is removable by design. I agree about the lack of tactility though. I’m the same as you in that if I were to ever get the approval for a second machine it would be the Decent 😂

To me the Synesso ES1 looks like a Soviet era machine. But being a Synesso it will likely be a very finely engineered machine with great temperature stability and consistent and precise pressure. They are being promoted as having all the features needed and no more. My guess is that they wanted a design that matched that philosophy, hence the plain looks.
