MediumRoastSteam I think you’re right in regard to freshness, or at least very close to being 100% right.
Testing that I did showed less than a 5% difference in the rate of decline, as measured by pour volume, over 7 days. And given the DIY nature of the test, that could probably be explained by any number of variable I had not factored in.
That test was between a normal one way valve bag being opened and shut several times a day over the week, versus beans left in a full and presumably air tight container with a one way valve.
Bear in mind that my tests are amateurish at best and are not double blind, peer reviewed or being published in Lancet!
Still, over a week, not much difference.
But I like the size of the Tightvac because it makes the pouring of the beans for weighing easier and they are also a convenient size to travel with.
