I was literally going to post something similar as we are looking at our broadband at the moment. We are with BT and need to make the decision if we are going to change or not. We originally had to have BT as it was a new build with fibre to the house. We are currently paying
we also pay for Netflix and prime. BT are offering the same contract which is not the fastest for £1.96 cheaper or upgrade to 150mb download and 30mb upload for another £6.04. When I looked before sky were not offering anything different.

Meldrew You current package says fibre 1 so presumably very high speed, so don’t understand the 150mb reference for £6?

    Edit out the phone number!

DavecUK fibre 1 gives us 50mb download speed and 10mb upload speed. The £6 will upgrade us to 150mb download and 30mb upload speed. I am just looking at sky again which may be slightly cheaper.

I’m limited to about 40meg here with whoever I use unless it’s Virgin

Tbh I’m tempted to bin plusnet off now, I hate shite service

And to put the boot in just cooked a shop bought potato and butter pie, first bite someone hair is in it 🤢🤢🤢

        • Business broadband is £38
        • Prime is £79 a year. Two households at our home share
        • Netflix is about £9 I think for two views. My daughter pays 😃
        • Two Indian channels for £12.50 a month
        • Disney+ is free

        Edit :

We had all of these plus Sky for £76 a month.
I would leave Broadband out as it is critical for my work. Leaving this out, the net cost to me is £57 a month.

Cuprajake I just cringe at the thought. There is no excuse for anything like this to happen.

LMSC When does your contract expire ?

          2 years ago…. So I’m no longer on a contract. Not having a laugh either. I’m paying £41 a month, I just checked. 🤦‍♂️

          LMSC Business broadband is £38

Do you have to be a registered business to gain access to those prices?

          • LMSC replied to this.

MediumRoastSteam No. I don’t think so.

The business name can be your name. Earlier, I had a proper business account under my company name. Not anymore. I switched from my company registered after moving home in 2015.

Please give sales a call and tell them you need xyz service. They will ask your details. Just give your name as the name of the business.

            Also, check the retail site.

I feel for you, Cupra. I mean, years ago, who cared (except those, like me, whose business depended on it)? But these days it’s getting harder and harder to just run our normal lives without ’net access. For instance, reluctant though I am (and believe me, thats VERY reluctant) to do banking online, despite the convenience, it’s now bordering on impossible, and inconvenient as hell, to avoid. After all the branch closures, I think my nearest actual bank branh is on a tiny outer planet round a minor star in a far distant galaxy, behind a giant midden heap, in the 3rd floor sub-basement behind the door marked “beware carnivorous plants, and the dragon” (nod to blatant rip-off of HHGTTG).

Which is why the last couple of times I’ve changed, I’ve ordered the new service and only AFTER it’s up and running do I give notice to the old.

And yes, obviously, that means at least one month, maybe more, paying for both. Which puts a large portion of sand down the front of my swimming trunks, but overall was worth it. The money I mean, not the sand. But it does ensure not ending up without service entirely if, for any reason, they don’t install when they promise. It’s worth it (to me, YMMV) to do that.

CoffeePhilE - this was one of the reasons I ended up with Virgin. I moved house, Vodafone at the time said it would take approx. 2 months to connect me on my new address. Err…. To flip a switch? The house had Sky before, and it has a BT phone line and everything. I even tried Sky and it wasn’t much better. So I phoned up Virgin who said they could wire me up within a couple of weeks, from scratch. And here we are.

LMSC - thanks for this. I’ll be on the phone with them on Monday. The whole thing doesn’t make any sense, as in, the business BB is half the price if compared to the domestic one! Crazy!

                • LMSC replied to this.

MediumRoastSteam If gig BB is £60 inc VAT on the retail, it is worth it should there be a need.
