LMSC The problem with weighing is that even if you fill the beans to what looks like the same lever, packing variance can mean the weight could differ by 1g…I’ve noticed this when filling my little tight vac containers with 18g doses. I did experiment with a bit of sponge in the bottom, to take up space and levelling off the beans…but the weights were all over the place.
The second problem is bean density, the fill level for dense beans, can be 20% less for exactly the same weight.
At host 2019, Eureka had a device with a hopper, handle and rotating drum with a piece cut out of it…like those machines that dispensed a handful of sweets, just not as sophisticated. You rotated the handle and got a dose of beans…but the variance was all over the place for home use.
I do believe people have automatic powder dispensers and found they worked…I read about it some time ago.
