I used to cycle a lot, road and off road cycling. Haven’t ridden for a while now, even before the pandemic. I still have the bikes but no time and no energy, mostly due to work.
I’ve been doing martial arts on and off for years, did maybe 4 years of white gi Shotokan karate, had a bit of a break from that and for the last 10 years I’ve been doing what we loosely term karate jutsu. Basically it’s MMA with Japanese etiquette and a black gi to distinguish ourselves from the traditional dō forms. Basically the chief instructor has done several arts and used to work the doors, so he stripped out all the kata forms etc, took the simplest stances, strikes, blocks, manipulation, ground work and throws, and focuses on making the most effective bits (in his judgment) from a variety of arts into a cohesive whole that can be put into practice under pressure in real life. Kind of a balance between less is more and well rounded.
Other than that, music (listening, audio etc rather than playing, sadly), motorbikes, and cooking (or rather, eating, but by extension, putting effort into cooking when I have the time and energy.
