Cuprajake If my memory serves right, I remember Denis doing a temp testing on the PF itself. I do not remember the how of it. I think, the delta between the brew and group was about 4C-5C.

Today, for my Rugali, I tried 93/99, 93/100 and 93/101. I have gone back to 92/98.

Cuprajake Has anyone done any scace temp tests on the evo?

I’ve only measured the temp of the group at the mid-point and it’s accurate to the display. Without an adaptor my SCACE II won’t fit. I’m pretty confident that the group stabilises the small amount of water inside almost instantly….The main thing is you can change the temperature by 0.5C and within 2 min pull the shot at the new higher/lower temp, until you find what works for you.

My machine arrived November 3rd last year. My issue is exactly the same as Daniel showed in his video. Just now, I replaced the gasket with the one in the spare parts box. The piston was not locked very tight, so it was no problem to replace the gasket. Cleaned everything and gently lubed the bore and gaskets with Molykote 111.

First extraction was good! Thanks for your help!!!

NelisB Well, that didn’t last very long… leaking again. I bought 4 new seals from Ferrari, one has finer grooves in its surface. @danielpugh , do you recognize the difference and do you know which one you have installed?

I will say that it is important the piston is at the correct tightness, as this compresses the pressure seal and allows it to bulge outwards….I remember reading long ago (decade or more), that this was actually quite important. They must not be overtightened, but they do need to be tightened enough to bulge out slightly

There is actually a mm gap between the gasket and the piston head, once tightened sufficiently, preventing the gasket to bulge out a little.

So probably the piston was not at the correct tightness? The seal didn’t look bad or worn. I tightened it an extra quarter turn or so. (and didn’t trash the old one)

LMSC are you saying that the head of the piston doesn’t push against gasket?? Are you sure it doesn’t in the centre.

DavecUK There is a very slight gap - perhaps 0.5 mm to 1 mm.

At least, I can’t tighten until it hits the gasket, despite tightening well - not too tight.

OK, I’m just remembering something from over 15 years ago, about the LSM piston seal…I might be wrong…or things might have changed?

Might even be thinking of a different machine/lever

@NelisB - mine is working fine now. First replacement was fine for a few days then progressively worse. Then replaced both seals (new one protruded further than all my other 4 seals). Has been fine since.

On a parallel note - my cheapo osmosis is installed and working fine (as far as I can tell). Only downside is it has a vibration pump that makes some noise while it pressurises the line to fill the reservoir. It sits behind the fridge so just ignoring it as would rather a bit of noise than a busted machine (am assuming it actually works. One day will investigate whether the pump is needed, but probably after the life of the filter which is 2yrs by default. Water drop g2 from Amazon @£250 in case anyone interested.

Was the seal that worked from Paolo, or from and independent spares company?

I’m wondering if there is a batch of bad seals been delivered to the group manufacturer as the group piston dimensions are exact for all seals that would fit an LSM group? The group manufacturer delivers a fully assembled group to Paolo….apart from the pressure gauge.

I have talked to Paolo as I think with 2 machines this has happened to, something could be going on either in assemble, or a batch of seals. This way he can go back to the group manufacturer after doing some tests and measurements.
