Ah! Now I have a better picture then I can see what I could not describe! I am meeting with Systemic in a couple of weeks ad he has already offered me some otherwise I would take you up on your kind offer! As an added bonus I am hoping he will fit them, but best not tell him!

Hi,

I received the Nuova Ricambi Viton seals. Dropped one in, so far so good. But what amazed me is the shape of the seal that came out. It sits so tight in it’s seat, that it lost its original v-shape. The outside diameter of the lip is actually smaller than from a seal that hasn’t been used. This way it doesn’t properly push against the cylinder wall. I think this causes the issue where water can travel above the piston. I am thinking of using a washer so that the seal is not pushed that deep over its seat. Any suggestions are very welcome.

FWIW, the normal shape of the neoprene seal seems to be ‘that’ shape - see for example the photos here, of a 2-months old machine

I’d be wary of inserting washers to “support” the seal; in my experience, it’s more likely to make things leak than to improve durability (and for the washer to genuinely support the seal lip it would have to be wider than the seal itself, which for obvious reasons is not going to work…)

Hello,

after 5 months my EVO have her first problem:

The head group temperature is set to 90°C and the service boiller is set to 96°C.

The probem is the group head take a long time to warm up:

after 15 min the group temperautre is 70°

after 30 min the group temperautre is 80°

and after 40 min the group temperautre is full to the set 90°.

Tapping seems the group start heating only to his left

Where can i start?

darkstefano A heating cartridge has failed or a connector has come undone. In the Alpha I noted both heating cartridges were wired into a single connector. I advised the cartridges should be wired into 2 separate connectors. I don’t know if it was done…open the lid and check how they are wired, put up a photo if you want. If they are separate connectors, then a connector may have come apart.

If they are wired into a single connector, it’s very likely the right hand cartridge has failed.

ACS (Paolo) is at are at World of coffee at the moment, but I would still send an e-mail to ACS, it may take a while for them to send out a heating cartridge or a pair of heating cartridges if they are still wired into a single connector. Plus they can explain how to fit them..

You can of course continue to use the Evo it will just take longer to warm up (about 45 minutes), but will still work fine.

Are you in Europe?

Hello, firstly thanks so much!

I opened the machine, all seems ok, the cable are all plugged and nothing seem disconnectet, also in the board in the right the panel is ok.

I tried to umplug and replug the heaters goup cables but nothing is changed.

i will contact ACS and search a solution with them.

I must received a message from Dave, as I read the problem should be one of the 2 heating elements, both it’s impossible otherwise the temp could reach almost 40C. I’m currently busy with WOC but the customer with problem can email to info@mevsrl.net so the service department can be dispatch the spare part. Of course we need all the complete details phone number included. Thanks.

darkstefano Apparently if the fit into the brass insert that is later inserted into the group isn’t spot on they can fail. When you get the cartridge, it will already be pressed into the brass insert and you need to remove the old insert with it’s dead cartridge from the group. Paolo will give you instructions for that., which we can then put on the forum.
