I am sorry, other question for the advanced menus:

Reading the faq in the “how to plumb” section i read:

“Once there, cycle through the menus and change the value of setting F04 from 0 to 1”

i notiche that my F0x values on my machine is

“F01 120, f03 1, f04 1, f05 80, f06 0”

i’m scared, my machine arrived with f04 value on 1, and i haven’t never modified it, i have always used the tank.

i have also to change the f04 and other f0x values? Any suggerstion?

darkstefano I don’t think there is anything to be worried about.

F04 tells the machine whether it’s plumbed in or not, but since even a (standard) plumbed-in machine only uses the mains water feed to fill the tank, what F04 does is to activate the time-out for the solenoid close, which is there for safety:

If the mains feed hasn’t filled the tank in F05 seconds, it means that either there is no water in the mains - and then stop and leave the machine in AL11 state (low water in tank alert - boilers switched off), or the tank filling circuit is leaking, so close the valve before the whole house is flooded.

I would change F04 to 0, and you can ignore F05.

I think it reflects the versatility of the machine compared to most other levers. Once people could see the pressures. generated through the shot, at the beginning of the shot, during the shot and the end of the shot, it starts to promote discussion. The sheer creativity of how temperature can be used in the group and the brew boiler to give a very stable brew temperature, a rising brew temperature or a declining brew temperature, also promotes discussion because these facilities have not been available to people before.

All this promotes discussion especially as these are parameters that people haven’t been able to see before in the other affordable prosumer lever machines on the market. It was also a brand New machine to market, with very different concepts, so that’s always going to promote discussion. The other thing the Evo did was started to challenge some of the ideas put aroundover the years, that were probably not really true.

I noticing with the group pid setting 2.0, 0.04, 5, 40 my temperature stop at -1°C respect to choice.

There are other sets suggested?

You may want to try the following settings that work perfect for me on FV 2.07 software (the new version) I also noticed that my temps would be off by 1 degree if my B setting was high like yours at 40. I found putting Group B setting to 6 made the group temp totally accurate as per my video below. I also included my total PID settings for you.

Group 1.0 0 5.0 6

Brew 1.0 0 5.0 150

Service 10.0 0 5.0 1

Hope it works better for you like it does for me. No need to put a higher temp in setting to get what is desired. With this you get what you program.

DavecUK It also makes durned good coffee with a very large variety of bean types and is incredibly forgiving of operator ignorance, shortcomings and general tomfoolery (as long as your hands don’t slip on the lever, in which case… goodbye cups!)

Does sound groundbreaking in concept. There again I think the ACS vesuvius non lever version looks it as well. Considering it came to market In I believe around 2018, in profiling terms was way ahead of the game . Also never seen so much stainless steel. The internal water distribution pipes are stainless steel! How many other manufacturers do that?

coffeealex Stainless pipes is a cost option, the standard is PTFE…which I personally prefer.

Finally I have time to get back on forum. Now I understand the hype. This thing is amazing right out of the box. I increase the temp for my light roast. Grind the bean, do WDT. Not event do distribution. Tamp then pull the lever and the magic happen. One thing for sure, I will not buy any E61 machine again. May be saturate group head. May be. Lever Forever.😀

Why would you buy a saturated group head, when you have a more accurately controlled (PID) cartridge heated one. A saturated group will not be independent of brew water temperature either?

Plus the Evo can respond to a change in brew temp in minutes, up or down, a saturated group cannot.

DavecUK I always fascinate by Rocket R9. gear pump pressure control. The R9 is one of machine that I was consider before I found the Evo Leva. Like I said May be. It was amazing how Evo Leva manage the group head temp. You can worm up the portafilter so fast. Don’t have to leave the portafilter on the machine very long.

The R9 doesn’t have a gear pump it has a 24V DC pump (probably the fluidotech FG04, which is a nice pump), you might be confusing it with the Vesuvius E61 pressure profiling machine…that does have a rather expensive and very precise gear pump.

DavecUK You are right. R9 has rotary pump with DC motor. Not the gear one. Vesuvius E61 is exception to the rule. Paolo at ACS is actually listen to customer. He will figures it out how to put xxxx or do xxxx to make machine work better. Alway impress by how many improvements on Evo Leva in such a short period of time.

That’s the other ‘success criterion’ I would have… it’s nice to have the temperature match exactly the target, but it’s even nicer for that temperature to be stable in all conditions.

I tryed your settings, seems enough work good, the group is up to the set temperature. Also coffee boiler is stable and the recovery seems fastly, but iI haven’t yet opportunty to test this settings with series of shots.

CoyoteOldMan Yes very fast recovery, I have no issue with temps. I can change temps up or down and it is always ready at new temp by the time I have got the next shot ready. Granted I am probably slow. But works for me.

I just timed recovery from a shot. The group was at temp again in 35 seconds, the brew boiler took 1:15. That was timed after a 27 sec shot.
