Indeed. IMO, Reiss should have sorted the chassis tip/flex issue at the very least before uploading a video - doesn’t do any favours.

DenisS I think it’s time we laugh back at them now, check londinium IG post with their new vectis, 3 pumps to make a shot cause grinder was not dialed in (stupid excuse since you post a video showing a product at-least dial in the shot for gods sake) and then the machine tilts a lot! how much:

This is perhaps the oddest thing about the video. You would think Reiss would have dialed in the grind before showcasing a shot being pulled.

Systemic I think they have taken a massive gamble by releasing this video. On one hand the 5 years of delays so far with yet more delays due to chassis improvements has to keep supporters online. the result is a video with obvious defects and admissions to some of those problems. I suppose there are those who are going to buy this regardless, and those of us who have no intention of buying it. Dennis does make an interesting point though which is bearing in mind how certain segments reacted to the Evo it seems odd releasing this video

biggest thing any of us can and should do is not lower to the level of the attacks that were brought upon the evo, it destroyed one forum,

i tip my hat to londinium getting it made, it isnt something id buy, i dont like manual levers,

i think his video could of been better planned,

i just think a line in the sand should be drawn, sides will never see eye to eye, so just keep out the way

EDIT: Saw the video. Given the title of it, along the lines of “it needs a new chassis to eliminate movement”, it kinda makes sense that he choke the machine and pulled the lever 3 times to perform a stress test, which proved that the chassis need to be improved.

Will be interesting to see if quicker iterations to test and fix issues will take place given this machine has been in the making for quite some time.

I do remember their posts on this and other forums…. but we’re a bit classier than that. No doubt the Vectis has some issues to be ironed out before it becomes a product ready for sale.

Hey, anyone still up? New install and I am getting the AL10 error, pump is on but not pulling water. All 3 hoses are at the bottom, can’t find the post with the user who had the same problem. Search is not finding AL10 :(

teamd It’s the pump timeout error, it means the pump has been on too long. It shuts it down to prevent damage.

Ensure the lever is down, Steam toggle open. Then pinch and release the water inlet tube where it exits the water tank.

Or try and prime the pump by squeezing water down the tube with something (large syringe, bottle etc).

Glad it helped, the gear pumps can sometimes be unwilling to self prime if they run dry.

Figured I should post a pic of the new machine. Its up and running in its temporary location while some cabinet work is being completed. No issues with shipping. Small issue with the power plug needing to be re-oriented but that was easy enough. So far really enjoying it. The steam power is going to take some time to figure out. I am coming from a gaggia classic where steaming milk is sort of a finesse movement. This machine puts out probably 3-5x more steam and I need to get a hang of the new steaming workflow and not overshooting temps.

trey_antipasto it looks great, coming from a Gaggia Classic, what a treat you have to come. You will soon be getting some of the best Espresso in your life.

Don’t forget to read the Evo FAQ in the forum knowledge base…remembering it’s a continually improved and enhanced product.

Persevere with the 3 hole tip, it’s fast but worth it. Only drop to the 2 hole if the amounts of milk are super small. Stretch for a lot shorter time than you think.

One thing that helped me quite significantly was to decrease the service boiler temp from 130 to 125 °C - I often steam very little milk (35-40 g for two macchiatos), and even with the 2-hole tip I was regularly spilling milk out of the jug.

DavecUK the espresso is already a noticeable jump from the Gaggia. I look forward to it getting even better. I even had my Gaggia fully modded with PID and dimmer control for pump control and upgraded steam wand. I had some reservations that the Leva wouldn’t be as big a jump and I was wrong. Very noticeable in terms of workflow/experience. The shots are also different. I can now certainly see what people are referring to with the body/roundness of the lever shots. The shots on the gaggia were good especially after the mods but right out of the gate the first shots off the Leva are as good or better.
