pinky-and-me your solution seems to have worked but every time I refill the tank Ive got to adjust the tube because it ends up touching the other wires or resting against the wall. Some days it can be really fiddly.

I might need to get a little plastic/wood raiser and use it on the top of the lid to keep it centred.

Over all machine has been great, have a few comments on what could be improved. Some could probably be done on all current machines.

OrangeBubblegum This issue started up again so had to dissemble the top and side panels.

All the hex screws are snug but not tight. The first time I took off the side the back and side panels because I thought I might need to remove the weight but thats unnecessary. I got to the controller and made sure the wires werent loose.

Power up and started working for a week before the error came up again.

Took the top off and pressed the wires for the water detector. They’re held together with electric tape and Im guessing some heat wrap. Might have to take it apart and reassemble.

Just wanted to add some information to the user database in relation to a recent minor event.

A couple of weeks ago my steam boiler stopped heating. Nothing obvious had happened co-incident with the lack of heating so I emailed Paolo in ACS. He replied asking to reset the safety limit switch which is on top of the boiler - it has a pair of wires on both sides and a small black bottom on top. After powering down I pressed the button (no real tactile feedback ) and powered up and hey presto heat was restored. There have been no repeats of this problem.

I’ve had the machine for 1yr 5months it’s been very reliable. The only other issues one of note was a need to adjust the pre-infusion deadband, at Paolo’s instruction, to resolve pulsing during pre-infusion filling.

Hoping for possible options to add some upgrades from the second version when it is launched but we will see what is possible.

Figured I would post again with an update. Coffee addicts here in Calgary, where I bought the machine, took a look at it regarding the groaning noise. They decided to replace the pump at their cost and it is definitely better. The sound is more consistent with what I hear from other peoples machines.

Moving on, I have a different issue that I don’t think is very complicated. The machine is now pulsing a few times after an audible click, which sounds like it’s coming from the steam boiler. Once the machine is on it does it every time I hear the click. I believe it’s when the boiler is turning on to maintain temperature. If someone could put me to which part to replace that would be appreciated rather than trying to transport it again!

Turn off the steam boiler and keep it off, once the steam boiler is cold, does it still do the pulsing?

DavecUK I left the steam boiler off and it still does the same thing. However, it is much less frequent. There are also no leaks inside or under the machine. It’s almost like the pump is trying to be primed somehow so it’s ready to go.

Cuprajake I think this is what you mean. I read the FAQs again and have an idea regarding what you mean about deadband. Let me know your thoughts.

Finley-72 Sounds like the dead band needs adjusting, it’s the top screw and I believe has to be turned anticlockwise a little…be gentle, you don’t want to break the stat. Make sure you report the issue to your retailer and ACS for advice, and send them a copy of the video.

The thing I don’t understand is how that has gone out of adjustment…did the retailer, or you adjust, that stat? This is because (from your description), this is a new problem, it hasn’t always done it from new?

Similar to this post Finley-72. I have posted once about this before. My machine pulses anywhere from 10-20 times during pre-infusion. It doesn’t do it at rest. So i’m not that concerned other then it is a little annoying and noisy to have that many pulses from the pump during a shot. For reference the amount the pressure gauge moves is almost imperceptible.

I am wondering if I could make a small adjustment to the deadband so that during shots i’m not getting 20 momentary pump activations.

My machine sounds the same as the video : I can upload one of my own if needed. The difference is that even in the video there are only 3-4 pump chirps and then a bigger adjustment and its done. My machine will sit there and chirp the pump on avg 15 times while it sits at 2bar PI.

Thanks yeah so yours is quite tight Vs say mine,

Mines slower to react. Set at 2 bar.

I don’t think this is a problem, but it shows its very quick to react.

DavecUK Thx Dave. After reading Jake’s reply I figured it did. When I had the machine in for service perhaps it was adjusted? Not sure but I will report it. I will carefully and slightly adjust the stat and get back to you. I don’t remember it being a problem before. It perhaps did this occasionally , but if so it was infrequent since I didn’t notice it as an issue.

DavecUK I adjusted the dead band screw counter clockwise towards the +. It’s now horizontal if you look into the machine. It has worked so the machine only pulses occasionally and I think it is likely due to water seeping/creeping in the group while sitting idle at temperature. I’m looking into whether the shop adjusted it for whatever reason. Thx Dave and Jake for your time and help.

The dead band screws feel loose in there but they turn. Take a good before pic so you can go back.
