It appears it takes generally a month to build after final balance.

With mine, since I had them add the safety system, I had a third balance payment of just the safety system. I paid that last Wednesday, and it was supposed to ship by the end of the week. It hasn’t shipped yet. Wouldn’t be surprised if this is due to the problems Jake is experiencing.

It won’t… they know there is issues. The prototype system was different and made directly in the factory, the final system was made slightly differently and subbed out to a firm who did various things incorrectly, as I and Jake found out. I asked for various changes to be made which should fix the issues.

We also have another feature on ours, the push handle. This performs a few functions and runs at whatever preinfusion pressure is set.

Flush the group screen after a coffee
Perform preinfusion, then a bloom phase, before pulling the lever to either continue preinfusion or make a shot
If the little lever is pushed for 2 or 3s, then the lever pulled down, preinfuse normally, you will get a 10-10.5 bar shot starting pressure. If the little lever is not used and the lever pulled normally, the safety system gives a 9 to 9.2 bar shot. This makes the machine super flexible.
of course doing a bloom phase will always give the higher pressure shot and if you don’t have the safety system, the LSM group will exhibit the normal pressures of 10-10.5 bar and the little lever will flush the screen and allow for a bloom phase shot.

I also want different double baskets supplied…I feel the existing ones are slightly bigger than ideal. That has been logged in my issues list. I simply bought a smaller one on ebay and tested my theory.

Is this push handle a prototype that your are both testing or are they likely to add that on to other machines?

I’m not fussed really either way - just curious.

If the starting pressure is 9.0bar, does that mean the shot will finish approx at 6 or 5.5 bar rather than the usual 7bar if the start pressure was 10.5 bar?

Surely Jake will have always the defective parts because he prefer to play with tools instead with coffee. About the safety system, both machines are equipped with the first 2 pieces that we have received. The actual parts are a bit different. The machine with standard system has a standard shower screen with a stainless steel ring (not the standard circlip). The manual flushing will be different when available (and Jake will not have neither in the future 😁) even because the system will be able to do another thing that I’ll show when ready.

Paolo_Cortese will this system be something those with an existing Evo Leva or Vostok could add on? I just received my Vostok this month and would be interested in that in the future if possible.

Any chance of a pic of the push handle set up or are we waiting for a final version big reveal? 😀
I presume/hope it will be relatively easy to retrofit and be available for older machines.
Will it work on non-safety system units or will they have to both be fitted?

Hmmm, sounds like I will be talking to Maria again sometime soon.
I am not sure about the safety system as the split LSM handle is easy to get a good grip on with two hands.
On the other hand if I am gonna pimp this thing I might as well do it all.
I might just not fit it for the moment.

Sort off, but not that much range of difference. I have the pressure release set up as single shot, no pressure boost and double shot, using a pressure boost. As I only produce doubles. I will be making videos in time.

I am far more function over form so the handle design isn’t an issue.😊
However, I had a Gaggia Classic for a donkeys age and I am not a fan of screw in shower screens.
I love the simplicity of dropping the screen on the Big V.

Have not done enough carful testing to be able to answer this one. I also suspect it might be different for different coffees and temperatures. For me in an unexpected (sort of unexpected) discovery. This is because I have also been talking with Paolo about changing the timing of the actual main water valve opening, ideally with a removable, or adjustable attachment…so something different again. It would be a purely mechanical solution and with later talks, possibly retrofittable.

All possibly because of a design quirk of clone LSM groups….or really something the cloners forgot about when they made modifications to the original LSM design to improve it..
