These pictures are great! The machine is definitely a looker from the outside but I agree that its true beauty lies on the inside, (maybe it’s alive?). The level of innovation and engineering put into this machine is impressive, like you see sometimes in other high-end products. I have to think of certain audio equipment and specialized boats…but then the Evo comes at a much more reasonable price. Maybe I should order the Evo with glass panels and move the LED strip to the inside. I know there was another lever with glass panels but that one didnt had much to show :)

I should also add that I might have unrealistic expectations.

I work in design and was always taught to ‘paint the back of the cabinet’ so to speak. I’ve had enough Creative Directors literally screaming at me over the years that I’ve come to expect that end-users won’t settle for anything but complete perfection. Clearly that’s not the actual reality.

While expressing issues in a free and a fair forum like ours’, we also expect the members to be careful in what they choose to post and how they are expressed. LMSC Yeah I have followed your journey with the machine. I’m not offended by folks views - I asked for people to be honest and I respect other people’s views.

I first enquired about an Evo back in 2021 but decided to sit tight as I didn’t want to be involved in early teething stuff. So it’s just frustrating to now be in the very situation I have actively tried to avoid. This has possibly exaggerated the cosmetic things in my head, combined with my lack of understanding.

As soon as I learned the safety feature produced a different pressure, and was still being refined - I did ask for them to swap back to standard sleeve prior to shipping. I don’t like being an early adopter of anything - that’s just the way I am.

ACS have been in touch today and I’m confident my sleeve issue will get sorted soon. I don’t have any problem with the customer service - it’s been excellent throughout.

And I am fully aware that I have bought a high end piece of kit - I have tried to highlight some of the positives. I loved how it was packaged, the accessories box, how the machine looks (inside and out), steam power, and the dosing system I know I am going to absolutely love.

Jokes aside, we can understand if these things frustrated you.

We know ACS will sort out to your satisfaction. You can go stock removing the safety system, put it back once they resolve it (if you wish to).

I already have a protective mat across the top of the Evo where the cups go, is that excessive OCD, or just taking care of an expensive purchase? 😂 It’s a fine line I feel!

The problem of the sleeves with safety system it’s my personal fault. The actual supplier refuse to make this hole and the other supplier that could handle this job need a moq to high for us at moment so I go ahead myself. This is the second sleeve with this problem. A hole too far from the center. I don’t have a cnc milling machine to do that and I go with standard tool. The good things is that I open my eyes on an additional bench test before the shipping.

Paolo_Cortese I have a lot of time and respect for this response. Do I still need to go ahead with video call tomorrow now we know what the issue is?

@DavecUK The Nils Vaseline you posted about doesn’t seem to be easily available in UK. Is there a suitable alternative I can source so I can prepare for swapping the sleeves over?

Ando I suggest to make a video call in any case. About the grease we will put some in a small jar so you do need to buy anything.

Had call with ACS today - I had said I wasn’t bothered about the cosmetic things I had raised, following yesterdays chat, but they insisted on offering alternatives to make sure I’m satisfied.

Very good customer service - can’t really fault it.

The safety feature is the main issue so I pulled a shot for the technician to see and they confirmed it’s faulty - so sending me a replacement in the future and have sent guidance on how to swap to the standard sleeve, which came with the machine in a box.

Itching to get this swapped over so I can get back to enjoying coffee!

Cuprajake Any idea what I’m doing wrong? When I put the lever part back in - the bottom bit is sticking out - nowhere for the shower screen / circlip to go.

Other silicone grease should work, you would surmise effectiveness on moving parts depends on viscosity. One uses very little of the Dow product which is very thick…Some hardware stores sell plumbers grease (silicone) that appears to me thinner, therefore not as tenacious…Maybe others are familiar with your product.
