i didnt listen to dave when he said use ptfe tape. In my scenario a few replies above i didnt mention the repair to the Vesuvius took 2 attempts.
first repair using the liquid sealer was great, for at least 8 days.
then i realised what dave was saying, the ptfe tape in many situations is better as if provides a better mechanical fitting as well as just seal. i found (i think) in my case the liquid sealer once fully cures gave a path for the steam to pass. were not talking obvious steam leak, just a persistent weep that wasn’t going away.
I tried various numbers wraps of ptfe, increasing until i was happy it felt good with just enough resistance.
that did the trick. also its important if you need to back off or if it doesnt feel right, completely remove and discard the ptfe and start again.
and finally, do not over tighten it
