I have stuck with P1 and so far I enjoy it greatly.

John_Yossarian I’ve been delighted with it so far. I’m yet to start properly experimenting with it, although I have done some unscientific experimenting with the profiles. Biggest discovery has been how forgiving it is of a newbie who is bluffing his way through setting grind size, pup prep and when to stop the shot. Despite having little experience I’ve been making better than adequate espresso since day one. I even tried some supermarket Lavazza beans that I had left over and even those produced decent espresso.

The Evo Leva wasn’t exactly an Introductory offer, just a factory direct price with no middleman, or drop shippers involved. Paolos factory makes the machines and they sell these direct, any price rises that have happened and will happen are due to component costs increasing, due to Covid. I think few retailers have reduced the cost of their machines, in fact I can think of only one.

I do agree, people shouldn’t badmouth a product for the sake of it…especially as some did do that (and probably still are) about the Vesuvius Evo Leva. Comparing technical specifications and asking questions are of course fine. e.g. the technical merits of groups, capabilities, temperature control etc.. etc..

I find it a little Ironic that the accuser has, at times, indulged in the very behaviours they seem to be complaining about?

Posted this 3 months ago, telling people what the machine can do. FYK I payed exactly as much as you guys did, no extra discounts, I found the price really good already for what the machine delivers.

Now he came on the post and started to bad mouth it out of the sudden. I did not post in the last 1-2 months anything about Londinium, on any forum, so dont ask me what happened and why he came there to post. Probably someone showed him an older conversation or post of mine where I say directly what Londinium can’t do and he got a bit hurt.

I just had a look and now I understand. I think you did yourself a disservice by missing out the 2 posts some 3 months before he made his comments. Clearly you didn’t badmouth anything, just took a view on the technical capabilities of temperature control. Not an unreasonable view considering that the Vesuvius Evo Leva has 3 PIDs one for each boiler and one for the group. The group heating is completely independent of the boiler (cartridge heaters only), very precise and can be changed by the user as desired, with temperature feedback. This is clearly something other lever machines don’t appear to be doing at this point in time.

In fact, the group of an Evo is not really required to cool boiler water that’s at the temperature required for steaming, which has a dramatic effect on temperature control and flexibility. I do believe in talking about the positives of the Evo, as you seem to have done.

I’m just trying to show to possible buyers what kind of man Reiss is. There are types like that in other companies and I’m not afraid to name them: Kafatek, Lyn Weber and I will never buy or support them, just because of that, I don’t even care about their products to begin with, if the producer is a jerk.

Hello guys .. i was wondering what is the heating priority in the evo ? 15 minutes redness is a mind blowing… for example in the bianca the pid will start with the serving boiler and over shoot it up to 120c then it will go and start heating the steam boiler.

Another thing is why there is no pressure gauge for the steaming boiler? I find this very helpful feature to keep an eye on it and identify directly if there was any issue (i.e. heating sensor not reading properly)

From other people’s posts, I understant that the US/110V version prioritizes the brew boiler over the steam boiler, with the Group heaters active from the start. As the brew boiler and steam boiler get to temperature in just a few minutes, the bottleneck remains the group heaters, which means that the warmup time is similar to the 220-240V version of the Evo Leva (i.e. around 16 minutes).

With the 220-240V version, from cold, all 3 heaters operate simultaneously… the brew boiler reaches its target temperature first, but the overall warm-up time is conditioned by the group heaters… thus it also takes 16 minutes to be ready to brew.

Yes, a pressure gauge for the steam boiler would be an additional safety feature, but it adds costs, complexity, and the machine is already protected by a blow off valve (among other things)… in the unlikely event of an undetected probe failure. I’m not sure how many people monitor the steam pressure in practice on reliable dual boiler machines with PIDs.

Eiffel 100% correct in everything you say. To add to the pressure gauge comments. Extra hole in panel, something else to go wrong and just not necessary.

The frequency of the steam boiler usage is another variable, which doesn’t justify the need for a pressure gauge.

The steam on the Evo is extremely good with 3 holes Vesuvius steam tip; it takes about 30s-35s max to steam 300 ml semi. The steam temperature on my machine is set at 130C.

I believe it’s 2.5 bar….as it has the Vesuvius memory metal vacuum breaker and safety valve, tested over the last 5 years. Same vacuum breaker La Marzocco recently started using.
