Ok I’ll try but 88 head temp seems fairly high. Temperatures displayed on screen are the set values (+-0.4c for group and +-0.2ish for boiler) for first shot and the same for later in the day shots with no noticeable variance.

Adiszep yes, same observation with my v1 machine. The temp sensors don’t reflect the average temp across the full group. It takes maybe an hour to fully saturate the group thus you get different results in the cup.

I have dialed in my beans for 15 min after machine turn on. This way I save some energy too :) If you drink at random times during the day, it might be better to dial in for 60 min after machine turn on since that should represent the always on machine state.

pinky-and-me and how you proceed if you wish to drink another coffee after ⅘ hours? Leave it 10-15 minutes for warming up? What temperatures are you using for light, filter roasts?

And I only drink light roast beans for filter brewing, so I don’t know if the same is valid for medium/dark roasts.

This worked. Apparently low temps are the solution for my problem (at least with high ambient temps). Sorry for late feedback but vacation :)

I was emailing with Paolo and he mentioned that I do need to backflush if I have the safety system. So I’ll be doing that regularly.

Is there a standard process with levers? Use the blind basket, add a little cafiza (or not), pull the lever like pulling a shot? how many times?

Sorry, just trying to make sure I maintain this machine as best possible.

I schedule this stuff in my calendar to make sure I don’t miss dates. So right now all I have is to clean my shower screen weekly lol.

I can suggest to remove the central screw on the shower screen and clean the flat surface if dirty and screw back than just make with blind filter one shot and push the button in order to release the pressure, just one time.

So, seems like a basic backflush. Will add that to the weekly schedule.

This only goes if you have the safety system installed.

pinky-and-me thanks! I was under the impression that I’m different or my machine is different. Slowly and gradually I kept lowering temps until I’m mid 80s for group and low 90s for boiler.

What grinder are you using?

Adiszep I have a Titus with the hybrid burrs. But I think the temp plays a bigger role in my case. With higher temps I had to loosen the grind to avoid harsh and bitter taste, but then I had to updose to get a decent flow rate and that brought the bitterness back. And it never worked to my liking. Now I dose 15g with fine grind and low temp and get very pleasant and tasty shots.

And given how filter extraction works, I think lower temp makes more sense with espresso extraction for this kind of bean roast.
